Employer did not enrol me into pension scheme

I worked in Switzerland for six years until 2014. I am nearing retirement age and have begun to research my entitlements. On checking my Lohnausweis for the period of my employment I see no entry for the mandatory occupational pension scheme, even though I was earning above the minimum for contributions. Apart from my former employer, who else might I contact to try to rectify this? Any help would be appreciated.

I didn’t think it was possible for them not to pay this. Should be on your pay slip as AHV and maybe also BVG (German).

Could it be that the employer paid the full premium?
In any case: check with your employer.

Re: Employer did not enrol me into pension scheme

Thank you. As I understand it, AHV is the state pension, and I have that sorted, but there are no entries at all in section 10 for BVG.

To search for a "lost" pillar 2 pension, please see this article (German):

Re: Employer did not enrol me into pension scheme

Hi,

Well, it's a long time. If the payments to the 2nd pillar were ever made. You had 6 months (or 1 year?) to transfer them to your new employer pension fund or tp the fund of your choice in case you left Switzerland.

If you did nothing, the 2nd pillar money was probably transferred from your ex-employer pension fund to a fund that keeps all the 2nd pillar money people forgets about. You may ask them if they have your 2nd pillar. One of the few institutions in CH that answers in English: 2nd Pillar Central Office - LOB Guarantee Fund https://sfbvg.ch/en/

Re: Employer did not enrol me into pension scheme

You can contact these people, they can search your BVG-assets. Often BVG assets which kind of "lost their owner" - in a sense that your whereabouts is unknown - are paid in to them.

By the way, when you left your last employer you should have opened a "Freizügigkeitskonto" (what ever that would be in English) if you didn't demand for it to be paid out. And had you done that, you would now know where the money is.

Anyway, should it turn out the employer didn't pay the BVG, I guess the linked address is also the place to turn for help.

All the best.

Many thanks to those who offered advice. I have contacted LOB Guarantee Fund and they have sent forms to complete.
