Puntastic! Anyway, I never mock people less fortunate, I mock people who are less lucky. It's more random.

If you were a gambling man then I suppose you would put your money into US$.
Or perhaps just keep it as CHF?

At least you can enjoy your shoulder of pork whereas, if this slide goes on, the old boy and I will be reduced to living on road-kill

Oh, I'm not going to eat it, silly!!! I'm going to say it was an unwanted present from someone and advertise it on EF for 50chf, including certificate of authenticity

And roadkill can be delicious - ask DB for some if his recipes

Certainly...

We're also considering releasing some more of our structured products, such as the Roast Beef,Potatoes&Glazed Vegetables Dinner Future Contract. The last issue was very popular, as you can imagine, and was snapped up in its entirety.

ahahahahahahaha bloody ah. Sometimes it is hard to have a sense of humour, honest, especially those of us out here on UK pensions, who worked very very hard all our lives and saved hard, never got into debt by tightening the belt, budgeted very carefully and now see all our savings evaporating in front of our eyes through no fault of our own. Hilarious I tell you.

I wonder what lynx tastes like?

May be brutal Odile...but nobody forced you to move here after retiring. I'm sure your very generous pensions would still go a very long way in the UK

I know Odile is Swiss from her posts, and probably wanted to come home, as did my old boy, who is also Swiss, and who wanted finally to live in his own country, after a career as a geologist chasing all over the world to find oil to keep your bloody cars running

Well, I'm not mocking either of you. Yes, you're unlucky with the current exchange rates but it was unfortunate that you didn't or couldn't move your pension over from the UK to Switzerland when you retired. And I don't mock the unfortunate ;)

Because we only had a choice of UK£ or US$ and thought we were being sensible choosing a mix of both.
It seemed, in our case, to make sense some 20 years back

It may still make sense, and you'll look back at this current period as a blip. Who knows.

Of course nobody forced us - and we did budget for some variation in exchange rate of course - but who could predict it could go from 2.53 (when we decided to move) to 1.28, come on! I wanted to come home to look after my very elderly parents. (we failed there too, as mum died aged 94, 3 weeks before our move, and dad 2 months later, aged 96). At least we know we tried and did our best- no regrets.
