Tax calculation - am I mistaken ?

I tried the various tax calculators online and it seems to give me different values :

http://www.comparis.ch/steuern/quell...errechner.aspx
and
http://www.comparis.ch/steuern/steue...vergleich.aspx
do not seem to show the same results when applying a monthly wage of 10,000 for instance in zürich / 120,000 annual. Any clues or am I misunderstanding how the calculators work ?

I also get a different value on http://www.estv.admin.ch/f/dienstlei...uerrechner.htm

Thanks for your help !

Re: Tax calculation - am I mistaken ?

That's because you're comparing tax at source (PAYE) calculators with "normal" calculators... there's a rate difference between PAYE which is averaged over the canton and the normal calculation which takes into account the commune of residence.

Re: Tax calculation - am I mistaken ?

OK - so for a B-permit holder with more than 120,000 CHF per year in Zürich, you should then look at the 'normal' calculator which takes into account the commune of residence ?

Were the revenue below 120,000, the PAYE value would be used or a different value altogether ? Or is PAYE just an average which is meaningless when calculating one's taxes ?

Thanks again !

PAYE rate is irrelevant when you file a tax return. If PAYE was deducted, then it is offset against the actual tax assessed.

If you live in a commune having a high tax rate (e.g. cities of Zurich and Winterthur) then your tax liability is higher than the cantonal average used for PAYE.
