Quellensteuer / Income Taxed at Source for Expats

Hi,

When paying Quellensteuer (Income taxed at source for Expats), does the tax rate of the Gemeinde (town) in which you live have any effect on the total income tax paid at the end of the year?

I pay Quellensteuer, and am deciding where to live permanently (B-permit). Is it worth selecting a low tax Gemeinde, or will the final rate I pay be the same wherever I live in a given Canton (Zürich).

Effectively I am asking whether Quellensteuer is a prepayment of tax which is then adjusted with the end-of-year tax declaration, or is it the actual rate paid by an expat?

Thanks for any help, and I hope that this question will be of use to others.

It may be worth looking for a low-tax place in case you earn >120k CHF per year. If not, it is the same tax rate in the entire canton.

A recent thread that discussed it.

120K limit in ZH, SZ, ZG

Simply, do you earn more than 120K CHF per year or are likely to in the next year or 3?
