Taxes will be paid to Geneva, then Geneva returns taxes to Zurich, IS IT OK ?

I am living in Zurich and working in Zurich since 1/2/2008 , holding UK Passport and having B permit, paying tax as a Quellensteuer around 9%.
I got new job in Geneva and i want to keep my main address in Zurich so i will pay the 9% instead of the 19% ( for Geneva ), that what i told the HR Department, the i got an answer today that "Taxes will be paid to Geneva, then Geneva returns taxes to Zurich".

My Questions are :
1) Is the answer ok ?
2) If the answer ok, how can i get the remaining money from Zurich, and when ( since the Quellensteuer deducted monthly ) , and how much ( is Geneva and Zurich gana deduct from my salary ? )
3) Is there any tax reduction since m traviling to Zurich every weekend to my address.

Many Thanks,

Hmm,
An interesting question, to which I do not have a specific answer. We own a house in Vaud and live in Zug. I pay tax in Vaud and Zug. If you stay in a hotel whilst working in Geneva you might be ok? But if you rent something in Geneva, you can hardly claim your not living there can you...

i know there is something called weekend permission , i dont remember the name of it in German , and that means you will keep the main address in Zurich and work in Geneva 5 days and weekend in Zurich , since all your furniture and main apartment in Zurich you will pay tax in Zurich even if i rent a studio in Geneva , if i am not wrong

Re: Taxes will be paid to Geneva, then Geneva returns taxes to Zurich, IS IT OK ?

We live in the opposite situation: I live and work in Geneva while my husband officially lives in Geneva and works in Zurich during the week. We had to fill a form for the Geneva taxes stating that our domicile principal was in Geneva. From then on, we pay taxes in Geneva and none in Zurich.

My husband has a form saying he's a Wochenaufenthalter in Zurich: a week-worker only.

Thanks a lot gazoline1212 , yesterday i called Zurich tax department and i could talk to the section which responsible for Quellensteuer and he told me that i will pay Tax in Geneva then after one year i have to fill up a form for Zurich tax then i will get the difference back.

i have to check a gain with him regarding which papers he needed attached with the form, but i guess they will need the Wochenaufenthalter which i have to issue it from Zurich city house i guess

Zurich is happy that you want to pay taxes in ZH. But what does Geneva tax office say? I concur with Shorrick that you might not get a refund.

If you are single, then GE may consider your supposed ZH residence as being too clever. However, if you have a family in ZH, then it becomes more plausible to claim ZH tax residence.
