Short term loans

I have had to go out and buy a new car and I wanted to have a CHF3000 overdraph facility for three months from Postfinance, just incase I need to go into the red. Despite having a stable position and earning a good salary the overdraph facilty was rejected due to `Current Guidelines` what ever this means. It appears that it is quite difficult to get a short term loan.

Re: Short term loans

Did you try Bank Now? I believe you must have been in the country for at least 12 months to get a loan from them.

Its very weird here, I called up UBS and asked the nice lady if I could have a 1000CHF overdraft. After a few clicks on her keyboard she quite literally said "Computer says no"
She couldn't give me any reasons, despite the fact that I've never been in the red and two salaries are deposited in the account every single month.

Computer says NO - That sums it up. I am a person not a thing
Being Switzerland I have just picked up the car and the good man has given me a paying in slip. So I can wait until my next salary gets paid in.

Nobody said cheap. Small amount loans at short terms are never cheap.

Front office cannot decide who gets a loan and how much.
  • Smaller loans are decided based on an algorithm in the "computer".
  • If you are a wealthy customer and want a big loan, then you can ask your "Relationship Manager" to make a case to the credit officers.
