Tax - living in France, but working in Switzerland

Just wondering if anyone has/had a similar experience they can share...

We are going to be living in France, but working in Switzerland (Basel), with a cross border permit. We are trying to anticipate the taxes we will have to pay, but really have no idea.....

Does anyone know/have experience in this/know where I could find out?

Cheers,

you can calculate it here (if you know reading French):
http://www2.finances.gouv.fr/calcul_impot/2006/
It's less than in Basel. Social security fees will be deducted in Switzerland and I think 4.5% of the tax amount will be already dedcuted on the Swiss side as well (but you will get credit for that when paying French tax later in the following year).

Thanks for the response donut.

Unfortunately my husband and myself don't understand french and the google translator didn't help.

Can anyone provide a simple breakdown so that we can estimate our income tax/social security contribution or recommend a tax advisor who can provide an estimate please ? As I am reluctant to accept any job offer/relocate without this information. We have three children aged 1, 2 and 6, and I hope that our combined salary will be in excess of 180 euros.

Thank you for your help.

http://geneva.angloinfo.com/information.asp
This gives info on living in France and working in Switzerland

Try this calculator: http://212.90.216.117/revenueestimate/mainForm.jsp
It gives an option for living in France

However, why make life hard for yourself?
Switzerland is not the UK: there is no one giant Megatropolis city...

Apologies for my stupidity, but the Online Revenue Estimater/Calculator doesn't seem to have the Vaud. Or am I missing something?

Living in France but working in Geneva: to whom I pay taxes?

Hi all,
I am looking for a new flat and I had some proposal in France (close to the border). Since in Geneva is impossible to find quickly a flat I am eager to accept but a question raises: Do I have to pay taxes to France or to the Genevian Canton? I ask that because the difference is really big

Do you mean in France, or in Switzerland?
