Question regarding Taxes

Hi Everyone,

I was browsing the net to find info regarding tax etc in Switzerland and bumped into this forum.. wht luck

I am a student living in Zurich and have been here for 2 years now.

I worked for around 6 months in 2008 as a praktikant (partly in Geneva and partly in Zurich) and the tax was deducted at source. I had a couple of questions:

1. What do these deductions on my salary slip mean:

on the German one:
AHV : pension ?
ALV : unemployment ?
UVG :
PK :
Quellensteur : tax ?
KTG :

on the French one:
AVS : pension ?
AC :
Impot a la source: tax ?

2. Am I entitled to a refund (probably a meager one) given my gross monthly salary was 3500 ?

Any answers will be appreciated !

I have a similar situation to yours. Were you able to get it resolved? Are you American? If so, please private message me.

AHV (German) or AVS (French) = Social Security state pension
ALV = Unemployment insurance
UVG = Accident insurance
PK = Company pension plan
Quellensteuer (German) or Impot a la source = Income tax deducted at source
