current median and average income in Switzerland

i cannot find current information nowhere in google or on the forums - what is current median income (before taxes i guess) for 1 person in Switzerland?

and also, what is average income?

it must be written in german, because in english there is no current information, or i cannot find it at least.

I found something quite quickly. Where did you search? What were your search terms?

Answer my questions and maybe I'll tell you how to find what I found.

I found something in English. I'm interested to see what the OP tried that was so unsuccessful.

Re: current median and average income in Switzerland

thank you, but these are Average household figures for 2006. what about per person stats, and the most important - median ones. (which is something completely different from average of course, especially in switzerland)

we don't know how many persons are in a household etc.

i was interested what is median from people who earn salaried money

i looked for words like 'median income per person switzerland' and like 5 other combinations, usually stopped after 30-40 results and checked other keywords.

use wolfram alpha (www.wolframalpha.com) and enter the above phrase (median income per person in switzerland). answer is in usd but you can convert it. its about 50k

This one's odd, why are there 2 pay scales for Lucerne and Luzerne? both the lowest and the highest.

Maybe they included Zug.

it is based on user input. so i guess that would explain two versions for lucerne! it says it was last updated: 26 Jun 2009! but who know how 'fresh/stale' the data is.

The importance of spelling in action! The incorrect spellers made less money.

I believe the correct spellings are
Lucerne (French)
Luzern (German)
Lozärn (Swiss)

Oh no... don't let me turn into a pedant.

Re: current median and average income in Switzerland

payscale has wrong data very often, and nothing weird about that - its database is made out of anonymous surveys that anyone can submit.

so what i mean is, that i'm looking for median INCOME (not gdp per capita, something also completely different) per PERSON (not household) released by officials.

the closest to the answer was Nathu, because these are official figures, but these are for household and also only average not median. ( salaries differences in Switzerland are i think one of the biggest in Europe and not only, so average means nothing)

Re: current median and average income in Switzerland

A couple of other possible places that you could look:
- OECD website
- CIA world factbook
- research documents from UBS or CS. I'm sure they publish research information on their target markets
- the big ratings companies, eg Standard and Poors
- SNB (or the Swiss equivalent of the Federal Reserve), as they presumably would need that sort of information for formulating eg monetary policy.

What do you need the information for?

Re: current median and average income in Switzerland

Is this any use?

Search terms: mean salary median

Item 22 of the results is "Swiss earnings structure survey 2006". It is a PDF in English.
