Postfinance / CS account, opening before I move

Hi Everyone,

I'll be moving to CH in Septebmer or October (depending on when my work permit is ready )
I am an American, currently living in France.
I would like to open a bank account in Switzerland before moving there so that I can have some funds in CHF and have my relocation expenses by my company paid to this account.

I am going to be in Switzerland next week and will try to open an account.

Do you know what my options will be ?
I was thinking the postal bank might be easiest as I can bring my passport in and give them an address of a friend in CH ?
Will they allow this even though I am not a resident yet.

Will credit suisse allow me to open an account, or not until I am in CH ?

Thanks for all your help, I know there are plenty of specific issues for Americans, just trying to work around this.

Thanks, yes I saw this thread.
But does not really answer my question about opening one before my residency permit is ready.

The account opening application form asks for details of your residency permit (unless you are CH citizen). Maybe some branch of some financial institution may agree to process your application pending receipt of residence permit.

You can apply for an a set of forms to open the account anyhow, and send them off before the permit is ready. They will then send you another set of forms to confirm things and thats when you can send a copy of your Ausweis to finish it off.

Without an Ausweis as proof of residency I don't think any bank will touch you any further than this, though i'd happily be proved wrong.

I went with UBS but had to wait until I had a residence over here to finalise the paperwork etc.
I had the relo expenses paid into my UK account. My wife is also American
