Exact tax calculation and deductions

I've spent quite a while reading threads and searching this forum, but can't find quite what I'm looking for....

We employ a nanny (not au pair) full time, she only works for us, and we are trying to work out how much we need to deduct from her salary. Don't tell me to pay her gross and leave it to her to sort out as she is also a newbie and doesn't speak German (neither do I). I also know we could go to a tax advisor but it seems a costly option at this point.

What I'd like to know is...is there somewhere that can show me how to calculate her tax exactly. I know there are calculators on the web but none of them are guaranteed to be accurate. I have tried talking to the relevant authorities but the figure they gave me seems too low (and is much lower than the credit suisse or comparis calculators) - I'm guessing they just gave me to cantonal piece and not the municipal piece??

I understand that we will be invoiced every 3 months but we need to deduct it from her salary in the meantime. If anyone can help it would be much appreciated.

The other thing that they said is that we can get a combined invoice for AHV and tax - has anyone done this? They didn't tell anything about that when we went to the SVA office.

A more costly option will be getting the tax amount payable wrong. At the very least arrange a session with a tax consultant to go through the entire process and make sure you do some pre-work so that you use the session to correct and/or incorporate some assumptions

Re: Exact tax calculation and deductions

We have a form to complete detailing her gross earnings each quarter, and they then send us an invoice. So how can we get it wrong when they'll invoice us???
That's why I don't really want to go to a tax advisor - as we'll eventually work out the correct tax from the invoices. But in the meantime I'd still like to know how much to deduct each month.
Or have I misunderstood (could be given I speak no German and the guys I've spoken to all had limited english)?
