actually, from experience*, it takes them about 6 months to slap the Betreibung on you. Even if you pay, it sticks.

Zurich might be slower but be prepared to run, hide, never move again and never get any credit.

My mate also had that experience. Once paid, the betreibung can eventually be removed from your record. At least my mate's was.

The law permits the claimant to immediately issue a Betreibung, even without a reminder. A business might wait patiently, hoping to retain the customer and future sales. But this claimant might not care to be conciliatory.

The claimant may be friendly and agree to retract the Betreibung. Otherwise, the defaulter must sue the claimant for deletion. That case can drag on for years, if the claimant is obstinate.

oh my <cough> mate <cough> got probably a 1st and 2nd warning. He also claims to not care about this blemish on his debt record as it seems to not have any effect....it was paid off immediately.

* Brazil is easier: the taxes are so higher (3x more than here) and the society is so corrupt that if you ask your employer to pay your salary without any official registration, he will do that ... both of you will save money and loose "rights" that you will never use anyway at least here the billionaire taxes are convertible in good education, good transportation and safety
