ANOBAG - Pillar 2/BVG Question

I am registered as ANOBAG. (Arbeitnehmer nicht beitragspflichtiger Arbeitgebender). In truth, if you don't know what ANOBAG is, you probably won't be able to point me in the right direction!

I work for a company in Dublin, Ireland and live in Kanton Bern. I have Pillar 1/AHV sorted out OK, with the help of AKBern.ch.

However I'm not sure what I have to do about Pillar 2/BVG. Would anybody know what I have to do? Is there a central body who I could contact?

Any assistance or pointers appreciated.

Thanks

I'm 100% sure, but assuming that the company is not registered here, then there is no 2nd pillar possibility! However because of this, you have a much higher 3rd level pillar - 20K+. Best is to get in contact with the tax authorities to see what is the situation.

Good luck with that,

Jim.

Re: ANOBAG - Pillar 2/BVG Question

Hello,

Sorry to bump this old post but I will most likely be registering as an Anobag in Geneva soon (working full-time for a Belgian company).

Is there any information/advice you could give me on how this works?

I've started another post about it at Self-employment for a single client (Geneva)

Thanks in advance!

Re: ANOBAG - Pillar 2/BVG Question

Bumping... I'm looking for an answer to this exact question, i.e. do I have to setup a 2nd pillar as an ANOBAG or does my 3rd pillar limit increase to 20% of my salary (capped at 33k).

If anyone knows, I'd appreciate some advice.

Re: ANOBAG - Pillar 2/BVG Question

Okay, I am able to answer the question now regarding ANOBAG status and 2nd pillar contributions. The AHV office in Canton Basel Land confirmed that an ANOBAG arrangement falls under "voluntary" 2nd pillar contributions. In other words, a 2nd pillar pension can be established, and if not the 3rd pillar contribution level is increased to the lesser of ~33k CHF per year or 20% of gross salary.

Hi there,

I think I know the answer. I am ANOBAG and did not have to register for a 2nd pillar because my pension fund in the UK is sufficient, because a/ my contribution in the UK is superior to the minimum required in CH (min. contribution required is c. 10% of your salary, but it can vary depending on your salary) b/ it covers me in case of death and invalidity due to disease. (You also need accident cover but this is the 3rd pillar I think)
The other way of skipping the 2nd pillar, if you can't show that your pension fund in the UK is sufficient, is if your ANOBAG agreement is only temporary.
I got all this explained by CHAEIS who proved to be quite helpful.

Hope that helps,

Julien

Re: ANOBAG - Pillar 2/BVG Question

Tagging on to this relevant thread...

Assume ANobAG, assume 2nd pillar voluntarily arranged (whether or not that's the optimal choice is another matter).

The BVG provider will request an annual salary notification. What sum should be reported? The gross sum received (anticipated) for the year, before deducting anything (taxes, Pillar 1, business expenses, ...)?

Sorry to ask, but this is absolutely neither clear nor easy to confirm. Discussions with tax, AGK, and Pillar 2 people seem to indicate the gross compensation, but the interactions leave me with a nagging feeling I'm overlooking something. Naturally I'm not going to take your word as law here, but your considered thoughts and terminology may help me settle the matter for myself.
