If it's 5 chuffs for 1kg, forget it. Make your own; it's much cheaper*.

1 cup Denner Kuchenmehl + 1 teaspoon baking powder = lovely self-raising flour

* 1kg of flour is CHF1.30 or less.
I thought it was 1tsp baking powder, and a half tsp bicarb

Orell Füssli (the English Bookshop in town) also had self raising flour the other week. Very expensive though! Much cheaper to make your own.

Re: Self Raising Flour: Found!

What a useful thread!!

My Swiss girlfriend (knowing how much I love to cook) keeps annoucing her fondness for scones and suggested that I make some as her Mum is coming over for dinner tomorrow!!! I have been tearing my hair out trying to find self raising flour

I considered the "home made" version using baking powder.......so this really works yeah?

And someone mentioned a Brit shop? Anyone know if there is one in the Bern area?

Cheers,

Gav
