Perhaps there will be a strawberry cake for dessert if I feel sufficiently recovered after this cup of tea.
Perhaps? After sitting in the kitchen for eleven and a half hours watching a pot of soup simmering when I could have been out exploring, I expect better than "perhaps".

Strawberry cake it is, then.

Sounds good to me! Strawberries are on the counter. You want to borrow a cookbook or are you OK?

No, but I do like wurst-kaese salad, so I guess that makes me a little bit German...?

Re: Tonight's dinner?

Tonight's dinner was leftover beef stew (always better the next day!) and gluten-free pasta with Anggä-Ziger.

I
like it, himself is making a manful effort.

Re: Tonight's dinner?

I made some mac and cheese. A little cheap cathedral chedar, a dollup of goat cheese (chavroux, I think), and some butter. It's white, not yellow as many americans prefer - although I might grind some annato seed in there next time. It had this nice tanginess that I recall from the US. Defintely comfort food.

Re: Tonight's dinner?

Mmmm... corn bread with rocket, apple and bacon bits baked inside, soaked in lashings of anggä-ziger... with a nice Farmer beer for afters (thank you, Mr G!)

That'll do. That'll do very nicely.

Re: Tonight's dinner?

For us it was slow simmered beef in peppers, onions and tomatoes. Perfect rainy day dish. And for the finale, ooey-gooey warm cinnamon rolls.

Re: Tonight's dinner?

Not yet sure about tonight, but tomorrow's will be the 1/2 baby goat I bought midday, cooked for 4 or 5 hours in my smoker.

I have to decide yet what else I need, as tomorrow is a holiday, and all the stores will be closed (Father's Day).
