Re: Tonight's dinner?

A warm one for us tonight. Roasted chicken from the güggeli stand around the corner (pricey but so yummy!) and steamed sweet potatoes with that.

Re: Tonight's dinner?

Found a recipe online for using sausage which is so prevalent here. I took the sausage out of the casing and ground it up with garlic and hot pepper. Then cooked some pasta (oriecette) and mixed it all together with brocolli and parmesean cheese. Mm Mm!

Aww. Probably.

Tonight it was baked pasta in real meaty bolognese sauce, nice cheese crust on top with fresh herbs (basil, spring onion and parsley). I baked in little tin dishes, individual servings baked are more fun. And skinnier. And fresh cold melon. Hmmmm...

Re: Tonight's dinner?

Spent all weekend making Italian tomato sauce to keep the family going for the next year. A hard job but will enjoy the fruits of my labour tonight when I have a simple bowl of pasta and fresh sauce with parmigiano.

I miss mackerell, haven't seen it here, I want a smoked one, for a bunch of recipes, where do you get it here and is it smoked?
There is smoked mackerel at the Sunday market at Divonne-les-bains at the fish counter (it shouldn't be too far from where you live, I suppose). There should be fresh mackerel as well.

Oooh, they have smoked one? I will look next time, it's a great market, though the sea food section scares me a little bit, it all looks like it's still moving..

They do serve champagne with whatever it is, true, but I don't think it will make the moving less scary.

Raclette it is tonight, with herbs and all the little tricks locals told me to do, yum.
