Veal scalopinne with risotto.

Meanwhile, making beef/horse/pork chili (no beans) with the leftovers from the other night's chinoise.

Re: Tonight's dinner?

Rösti with spiegelei, and a bit of mixed salad.

Thinking about what to cook for tonight I got that idea ... and then along came the other side of my brain that does direct tranlations ..... and I got "Mirror eggs". A Spiegel is a mirror, right? So how did fried eggs get that name in German?

Just like I thought - Spiegelei might be derived from the fact that one can use the yolk as a mirror if it's liquid enough
I prefer them fried on both sides, so it's Entspiegel-Ei for me

Pretty decent at that price, n'est-ce pas?
Indeed.

Made pastrami reubens last night, great, leftovers for lunch today and tomorrow.

Meanwhile, the leftover game stew will be added to the chili and used to make stacked red enchiladas tomorrow.

Meanwhile, tonight's is Bánh tráng cuốn.

The enchiladas that I made (but did not bake) the other day, as my wife came home with a bunch of fish, mussels, and cuttlefish that evening.

That's a fantastic idea... gotta be better than buying them at, e.g. Migros, at a rate of 3 rolls for CHF 10.-

What meat (if any) do you like to put in yours? Where do you get your rice papers?

My dinner last night was pan friend pork cutlet with roeschti potatoes and steamed vegetables. It'll be the same tonight, because pork cutlets are often sold in packets of at least two, and once you open it, you can't really leave it there for long in the fridge, especially when it was meat bought on a special. (Yes I could stick it in the freezer but there's no space, plus defrosting is a pain).

Re: Tonight's dinner?

Probably something made in the new, larger, super-duper Thermomix that arrived today (it only took over 2 months to get here ).

You must be a real gourmand, hobby cook and/or loaded. Those machines cost a truckload.

I thought it was a rather funny debacle (not really) the last time they released a newer model somewhat close to (as the story goes) when they had the older model on sale.
