I love Nando's chicken. Wish we could get the sauces and marinades here in CH.

Would anyone have a tried and trusted peri peri / piri piri Chicken recipe that I could make at home?

You have to use Nandos sauce. PM me your address.

You could try contacting Swannie at Galihas on Seebacherplatz and ask him if you can buy some of his sauce. Its one of my favourite places to go and get my Nandos fix, his chicken is really good

I marinate the chicken in salt, lemon juice and olive oil with a few chilli flakes (plus garlic if u like it) at least 4 hours before cooking. The Nandos bottle of sauce I have in the cupboard has those ingredients plus cayenne pepper, paprika and onion. I buy whole chickens and cut them myself or you can cut them down the middle and flatten them out on a special rack.

I serve with tomato rice and hot chilli sauce from the Asian store.

This is where I go for my Nandos fix too - it's a pretty good substitute.

No wonder Jamie got so much bad press about that book. You definitely can't do proper Pirri Pirri Chicken (you need to leave it marinating) or real Portuguese custard tarts (you need to roll out the pastry in a snail shaped pattern to get the right flakiness) in under 30 mins. My MIL wouldn't know what to do with her day if dinner only took 30 mins

I couldn't personally comment, as I'm not familiar with this dish.
Not that J.O. needs any defending, but I would guess that this particular crusade, is to demonstrate that those (in UK), who normally eat take-aways or freezer-to-microwave convenience meals, because of lack of time or effort, can accomplish a more healthy and tasty (fresh ingredients) semi-authentic meal, in a comparatively short time.

OMG, just reading that recipe, gets me stressed, and then tired!
nope, would rather pop down to Nandos than get mzself into that jiffy!!
