Re: raw beetroot

it needs to be raw - those on the coop.ch website seem to be cooked.

I was thinking about a specialist shop for organic food. does any one know any?

thanks

Re: raw beetroot

It depends a bit on the season but our Volg has it most of the time also half cooked in plastic wrap, which is okay as well.

Correction: in Swiss German, they are called Randen. (Germans say "Randen? What? Ohhh, you mean "Rote Beten.")

And yeah, they're not that hard to find. The smallest Migros and Coop stores may not have them, but any of the bigger ones will.

Re: raw beetroot

Also look at the Saturday morning vegetable markets. You can also order other unusual vegetables at these markets.

Only dyslexic Germans might do so. All others would not form a plural of Rote Bete. If you have to count them, call them Rüben.

Re: raw beetroot

Definitely visit any of the markets for raw beets, although at this time of year raw beetroots are a bit more difficult to find as they are really out of season (probably why you won't find many in coop/migros). More information about Beets/Beetroot in Switzerland in our website: beets/beetroot

Have you tried farm shops?

The ones around us usually have a load (cooked and uncooked).

Re: raw beetroot

I haven't been here on these forums that long, but if there's one thing I noticed quickly is that the most mundane of topics can generate pages of discussion!
