| | Divan Turkish Restaurant in Konstanz, GE Sehr Guenstiges (VERY CHEAP) restaurant in Konstanz, GE, right across the Swiss border into Germany, and t he food is also good. I went last weekend...I'm telling everyone, a lot of Swiss will be coming their way (more than normal) LOL
Cheap for me is large dishes of food for 9-12 Euros. The beer is also excellent.
Info: Sedir
Hofhalde 11
78462 Konstanz http://diningout.de/tuerkisch/sedir/index.php
The Turkish place is not a kebab place, it is a proper restaurant, that serves a wide variety of Turkish food. Too bad they have no website. Neben der Rothaus Bar, in der Nähe der großen Kirche (der name ist Muenster) - im Stadtzentrum.
Make reservation, the places get very crowded, even later at nigh (After 9PM).

Actually I went to this place last night, the average dish is about 7 Euros. We had a very large appitizer (vorspeise), two large main dishes (hauptspeise), and a even two desserts! Oh yeah, a .5 liter beer, a water, and a Coke. Total cost? 33 Euros. The place was very crowded.

When in Konstanz, I might rather recommend the Sitara Indian Restaurant at Paradiesstr. 7 (just on the backside from the Graf Zeppelin) or the Restaurant Graf Zeppelin at St. Stephansplatz 15 (excellent suberb regional cuisine) or the Cleopatra (Egyptian) near Konstanz-Airfield (moved away from the Konstanz Bahnhof area due to the price of the location. These three places may be rather more expensive then this "Sedir" place but are worth the excursion to Konstanz all the time ! Close the day in the Shamrock Irish Pub at Bahnhofstrasse near the Konstanz Rail Station or the Logan's or the Mary's

You think being here for several months I don't know what a Kebab place is?? I go to one all the time, and have been to at least 4 or 5 others.
You won't be "absolutely convinced" until you go there and look at the very large menu and sample it, instead of speculating online as to the authenticity of my post and my knowledge of what a "Kebab" is. It comes off as more than a bit arrogant and ostentatious (although not exactly unknown traits around here).
Many people who live in Ostschweiz go to Konstanz quite a bit, for simple things like grocery stopping, it is worth checking out. If you are not interested, then don't go. But don't try to critique some place you have never been to (or know anyone who has). The main idea is that the restaurant is a good value for the money. the idea is not that it is the best possible Turkish place in the German/Austrian/Swiss border area. I can think of several more expensive places that may have slightly better cuisine, that is far from the point.
I would agree on Shamrock Irish. There is also a restaurant that specializes in soup behind the subway at the City Center.
Also, I know the Cleopatra, that is not really "Egyptian" it is mostly Lebanese, with some Egyptian and Moroccan foods. Egyptian food generally is not very tasty which is why in Egypt most "Middle Eastern Restaurants" serve non-Egyptian food. At least in Cairo, not sure about other places.

Yes, as in the gastronomy in Cairo and Alexandria, Lebanese cuisine and Lebanese restaurants play a very important role, they of course also take over much of the Lebanese/Syrian cuisine. In Arab cuisine, Tunisia and Lebanon are occupying top places of course, but Merguez sausages are Algerian, and some Mashreek specialities are Jordanian.
In regard to the Sedir I had a look at their menu which is on their WEBsite. If they in real terms are better than what they have on their own WEBsite, so be it. The Sitara Indian in fact is really superb, rather even better than what you might expect from the menu. And their boss is omnipotent ! The Graf Zeppelin has been and still is a value for itself. Konstanz in fact is full with good restaurants which in general are 20 to 40 percent less expensive than anything in Zürich or Winterthur.
