Mustard powder and seeds

Does anyone know where I can get these in Switzerland?I've tried
Migros and Coop but had no luck..do you think an Indian shop might sell
these products?I have heard pharmacies used to sell them for medicinal
purposes. The reason I'm asking is because I want to make my own mustard.
My aunt in South Africa makes delicious mustard and gave me the recipe.
My husband loves mustard and I think it is also a lovely gift for someone.
Perhaps I'll have to get someone to send me some powder and seeds from SA or the UK if I don't have any luck.
Any ideas as to where I could find these products would be most welcome.
Thanks a ton.

Re: Mustard powder and seeds

You can easily get mustard seeds in either Globus or Jelmoli spice sections. Probably also in the larger (aka well-stocked) Coops like the one in Sihl City

Just ask for "Senfkörner"

Re: Mustard powder and seeds

Could you share the recipe? (Yes, Indian groceries carry mustard seed. Some really large grocery stores do, too, but at far higher prices.)

Re: Mustard powder and seeds

Mary,

you might want to try Aggarwal: http://www.aggarwal.ch/

They have two locations in Zurich, both in Kreis 4. I have been to the one in Kernstrasse several times, and was able to find several spices that I had been looking for. I think it is a great store.

Good luck!

Re: Mustard powder and seeds

Hi Guys

Thanks for all your suggestions..much appreciated.I found both mustard
powder and seeds in an Indian shop off Langstrasse.Very pleased.I shall
post the recipe soon. It's a sweet one but can of course be adapted
as you choose. It contains sugar and eggs so should be kept in a fridge.
The mustard powder and seeds were very cheap..1.50 a packet.

Be blessed.

Mary

Re: Mustard powder and seeds

That's great to know I can get mustard seeds here, yay!

I have been getting mine in Marks&Sparks back home, black mustard seeds and white ones, and black onion seeds, too.

I wonder if our neck of the woods offer them too, I know I saw some in Neuch, nearby Cerf, the deli and spices store...Maybe Globus in Ge will have them, just don't want to pay a fortune for those.

Re: Mustard powder and seeds

Hi Country Mouse(like that name by the way),it is the India Supermarket
Maharajah-Josefstrasse 91,8005 Zürich.
If one walks from the tram stop Limmatplatz down Langstrasse,it's the
4th street on the left(opposite Denner).
