Bounty choc-covered ice-cream bars - sold in Co-op.

Evil invention if ever there was one.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carac_%28pastry%29

My absolutely favourite Swiss sweet treat is the carac.
I 've worked my way round most of the patisseries in Lausanne eating carac.

Not addicted, but I find it difficult to go past the 50% price reduced cakes in the Coop after 4 pm, and the chocolate covered amaretti biscuits never make it home!

That blows my mind. Never had them. The last time I was in Switzerland I sought out the best place for Vermicelle in Zurich. I don't know if its a dish only found in Switzerland, but they make it so well and I've only had it in Switzerland, so for me its synonymous with that country's cuisine.

Vermicelli - sweetened chestnut purée, extruded to look like vermicelli. Served with vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, etc.

I'm also addicted to Laederach dark chocolate. Last week, I got some with dried banana. I love the almond - dark chocolate too.

Jestingly called "Regenwurm-Gruppensex" in German, which means earthworm group sex.

Re: (Food) What are you addicted to in CH?

Lately for me it has been these sesame crackers I found at Coop and some of that spreadable herb cheese. Delicious. Also I discovered that Coop has really good sandwich bread ("toast bread" here) like what you get in the US. Every other kind I tried was always really dry and crappy. But the Coop brand toast bread is usually pretty good.

Also, I like making homemade pizza because the pizza here, I am sorry to say, just sucks. Or at least it's quite different from what I am used to, so I prefer to make my own!

I really want some friend chicken though But I have no deep fryer and there is no KFC.

The joys of being pregnant and craving food I can't obtain or make!

Re: (Food) What are you addicted to in CH?

I think I put this back on page three of this thread, but, really, it cannot be posted enough.

Creme de Gruyeres on top of strawberries, strawberry ice cream and meringues or any combination of the above.

In a pinch, creme de gruyeres inserted into a cup of coffee will curb the addiction for 24 hours.

Re: (Food) What are you addicted to in CH?

The bread in general. I've never been anywhere that does as many varieties as well as Switzerland. Even the supermarket bread is reliably good and fresh.

Wurst-Käse-Salat with some bread to dip in the dressing... A big slice to use as a plate for a grilled Bratwurst with mustard... Raclette... Fondue...

You can keep your Nutella though.

Rösti and fondue. One day I'm going to combine them and create the ultimate dish.
