Re: Marshmallow Peeps: WHERE?

God, those are evil. I can't taste that chemical flavor/dye...I tried hard. But, they are cute, I like the weird ones.

Yeah, i think I saw them in the Yank store here last week.
I think I associate Easter with eating many hard boiled eggs, it's not a very nice and cute thing to imagine, but sooooooo nice.

Yessss! They are cute, I get excited when it gets near my mouth, but geez 9 times out of 10 I spit them out. The one's I have swallowed will be the reason why carbon dating me is impossible.

Re: Marshmallow Peeps: WHERE?

Not that it really matters, but, since the French, even before the Americans, somehow managed to take the last bit of real marshmallow out of marshmallows, am I right in assuming that there is no marshmallow in Marshmallow Peeps either?

Re: Marshmallow Peeps: WHERE?

I'm fairly certain I've seen then at Lolipop, either in Zurich or Luzern.

I am almost positive I bought some Christmas ones at one of the stores. I'll check Luzern tomorrow.

(Sometimes they will have seasonal candy after the season is over. Unlike the U.S. where they run out before the holiday since the stores there start selling so early.)

It has "recently come to my attention", as they say, that my husband and in-laws are English. Actually it hasn't, I've known that for a while, but what has recently come to my attention is the shocking corollary: none of them has ever had a Marshmallow Peep. Can you imagine? They are otherwise people of good taste and broad culinary horizons, so I feel certain they will want to rectify this embarrassing deficiency of experience this Easter and not a year later.

Does anyone know where I can get the things over here? Chicks preferred but will settle for bunnies if I have to.
Mathnut,
I agree it is delicious! PM me and I'll mail you some.

I was in Weil Am Rhein, and I didn't find it there. Mind you I have been in one big grocery store only, not all of them.

No Peeps. But they have Reese's Eggs. (A few less than before I entered the store.)

I am sorry, as I know that I saw such things over here. But, since 1988, I had to train myself, for medical reasons, to ignore any kind of sweets, at least as far as I can

Re: Marshmallow Peeps: WHERE?

At the risk of being judged , I will confess to loving them. And I have found a source in Switzerland: http://www.tasteofamerica.ch/

Now if only they carried Smartfood, Hostess cupcakes, HoHos and Twinkies...

I am pleased to say that I am another from England who hadn't heard of them. I don't feel that I have missed out seriously.

You indeed did not miss out a lot. But I am nevertheless surprised. As the stuff was what the youngsters of my Texan relatives so happily adored.

Who was the chap who so correctly noted that "the common language is what divides Britain and the USA" ??

I guess this is what you mean:
