I grew up in Canada (B.C.) and have never heard of a Peep until I read this thread. We normally have the Cadbury's creme eggs for easter. Perhaps in Ontario they know them?

Sorry Mathnut I have not seen any in Zürich either.

Re: Marshmallow Peeps: WHERE?

For those who haven't had any for a while, they now have ones dipped in dark chocolate: http://www.marshmallowpeeps.com/ My husband grew up near the factory and refuses to eat them.

As a kid, the Easter basked was not complete without a few Peeps. They are rather versatile as they can double as decoration, amusement and can stand in for styrofoam peanuts.

Re: Marshmallow Peeps: WHERE?

We always had peeps in our basket, partially because they look so cute but also because my mother loves them after they're a tad stale and they start to get more chewy.

For this reason, she's happy they now have Peeps at Halloween and Christmas, she buys them a week or so after the event and enjoys them a month later.

Re: Marshmallow Peeps: WHERE?

Lolipop in Stadelhofen Station HAS Marshmallow Peeps, at least five sorts. But of course the all-year-round varieties !

Re: Marshmallow Peeps: WHERE?

Well, you could also use the easter days off and try to make some yourself:

(Blog post links to a Martha Stewart recipe, but looks good!)

Try FranzCarlWeber on Bahnhofstrasse or some gift-shops in Zürich-HB or on the Limmatquai

Re: Marshmallow Peeps: WHERE?

It's too bad I didn't see this sooner. I would have sent you a basket from the US. I can get every nasty american candy available. I live in junk food central. Yesterday at the drug store, I saw a styrafoam egg container for a dozen eggs with some kind of hollow chocolate candy easter eggs inside. It was pretty repulsive but since it is such an interesting thing to see you almost want to buy it.. I also saw loads of peeps (birds and bunnies). I threw some away last year because I can't stomach all that sugar. I also hate cadberry cream eggs... I actually don't like any easter candy, the chocolate is too low quality.
