Black beans

So here's one thing that I have never been able to find in Switzerland...canned black beans. Has anyone ever seen them in any markets?

Have you tried looking in El Maiz?
http://www.elmaiz.ch/

It's right behind the train station on Josephstrasse. On their internet site they have canned black beans (refritos o enteros) for about CHF 7.00 (nobody said import food is cheap... ):

Re: Black beans

Manor has them, or at least the ones in Lugano do.

Re: Black beans

You can find them at the Portuguese and Latin American stores.

Re: Black beans

Thank you so much for the tips -- I've looked at the usual suspects of Globus, Manor (in Zurich) etc...but will check out your suggestions.

Re: Black beans

Coop Sihl City carry them. They're in a section along the wall near the produce and wine sections with various "ethnic" foods including the kosher section. I've also seen them at the Coop in Dietlikon in the past.

El Maiz carry them as well, but they're much cheaper at Coop -- under chf3/can, I think.

the larger coop stores carry an assortment of beans... the ones we usually get are imported from portugal and are quite good
