I'd rather eat my own earwax. | | | | | | Quote: | | | | | Spiders often crawl into your ears and build a web across your ear canal to trap all the other bugs and parasites that creep in there at night to feast on your ear wax and dead skin cells. | | | | | See, even bugs and parasites would rather eat earwax than mussels! |

Ahh, more firmly establishing my "thanks but no thanks" opinion regarding shellfish.
Yes, yes, I know it's odd, I love sushi with sea urchin roe on it but can't bear the idea of eating oysters, let alone oysters with semen. | | | | | What, not even with these seamen? | This user would like to thank grumpygrapefruit for this useful post: | |

Can anyone provide me with a convincing reason to actually swallow these revolting creatures? | | | | | Because, provided they are of decent quality and not prepared by someone with a lobotomy, they are delicious little sea morsels? Raw oysters, too.
And luckily, most mussels these days are farmed in clean waters, so they're pretty clean!

I've had them done well Thai style and with a tomatoey sauce too. They're not great as far as seafood goes (clams are better) but they're fine. | | | | | You of course also can have it the real way. That is on beaches when the tide has gone back, and mussels are around. Pick them up, open them and enjoy |

I saw some French bourgeois people slurp them with champagne over the border for breakfast, and still cannot get over the trauma. | | | | | You of course can replace the champagne with some Grappa |
