Re: Do you drink tap water?

Any acid also apple vinegar will clean out the limestone very quickly from anything (when I was living in a limestone rich area I used to submerge the shower head in vinegar once every couple of months because the pores were always getting clogged).

Lemon is fruit and it's healthy (in moderation like everything). But the website you linked is the usual load of non-scientific crap copied by thousands of useless blogs/10reasonswhythisisgoodforyou websites across the web, it even has the alkalyne diet thing in it which is a classic. If you feel better it's because of the physical activity, don't give the credit to the lemon juice.

No, but apparently those well known biologists Angelina Jolie and Madonna et al are both on the diet and where the celebrities tread, others are soon to follow. - like Jacek, for example.

No it doesn't.

It may make you feel virtuous though and make you feel like Angelina Jolie and Madonna but that still doesn't help you lose weight.

Lemon juice in warm water is also bad for tooth enamel but I suppose you could rinse in fresh water afterwards.

It would help you lose weight if you had that stupid glass of lukewarm lemon water instead of a proper breakfast.

In fact, I sell a diet plan based on the novel concept I call "not eating". You will lose lots of weight very quickly! At the moment, people are dying after a few days but that's not my problem. I take payment upfront.
Tom, of course you know it all better, as usual ... What wrong with you and Angelina Jolie complex?

I have been on the "water & lemon first thing in the morning" diet for past couple of months. During the week, half an hour after cleaning my system I go for cornflakes with milk, glass of orange juice and cup of coffee. I try to drink about 1-2 litre of tap water a day.

Then, I usually have rich English breakfast on weekends and normally don't abstain from good meal.

I'm on my mission to lose few extra kilos by exercising and proper diet, where water & lemon is one of these factors helping me a lot. My current result is 180cm height & 82.5kg weight. My goal is reach a stable, unaffected by diet swing, 81kg this season with certainly well ripped athletic body.

Don't shoot the messenger.

I'll give you an example:

If I said I was on a health and fitness diet and I drank five glasses of gin a day as it helped with the fitness - and because Madonna did that too - you'd think I was crazy.

I went on a three hour run up in the hills, in the snow, and mainly in the dark this morning - before breakfast.

And I haven't lost any weight.

If I added a glass of warm water with lemon, would that really change anything?

Perhaps you are on to something with your diet.

I was being sarcastic.

Jakec had basically written a load of nonsense.

You don't damage your kettle with limescale - evidence shows that limescale buid-up doesn't even affect the electricity consumption much, and unlike your body and lemon juice you can use an acid solution to clean your kettle.
Sorry, didn't get the sarcasm, had finished the day's second cup of tea at the time.

You're right, it doesn't damage the kettle. But you have to descale it, and I'm way too lazy to do it regularly, hence the Brita. And I don't like the look of a cup of tea covered with tea scum.

Tom. It might be your metabolism or selection of exercises ...

Two glasses of tap water & lemon at 9h00. I ate fat soup in the morning at 11h00. I went to play tennis for an hour at 13h00. Then I drove my lazy ass in BMW for 30min. Afterwards I went for an hour interval training combined by running and jogging in the snow with duration of each set 60s. Then I came back ... Had a glass of water to trim the fat loss workout and felt like a god. Read your reply ...

What's the point? What works for one body type it might not work for another body type ... Too bad. Perhaps eliminate alcohol and sugars for few months and log back again

I exercise with the missus if she isn`t busy chopping wood or fetching in the coal. Haven`t lost any weight but it works up a healthy appetite.

Also remember, it's not about longevity of the workout but rather its intensity. Short high intensity workout with proper selection of exercises works better than e.g. 3-hour run in a lazy pace

Right diet combined with adequate workout, stress level, rest and recuperation are very important factors. Well defined six pack is a rough & good indicator of your BMI.

If by cleaning your system you mean shit, warm water with lemon will certainly do that. It makes me feel like a god too sometimes, but coffee will do the trick for me.
On a more serious note, it's your diversified diet and the excercise that plays the major role here, while the god-feeling experience is endorphines, I don't understand why you want to give merit to the lemon and not to yourself lol.

For us man in their early 40's, we don't need to worry about diet like a woman (examples Madonna and Angelina).

You just go out there and beat the living shit out of your workout in dedicated time for it. Come back again and keep on repeating the routines that work for you to the point that it still works. When body, especially muscles and joints get used to same exercises, then it is information for you to vary them, it's about time to change the workout to achieve the best results. Most importantly, in order to avoid injuries one must stretch regularly as muscles and joints with age become more stiff and reluctant, especially in sedentary lifestyle. Don't get too tough on your body either as you stand a risk of injuries. Observe your body and listen to it. Intensity workouts are perfectly fine for everyone in good health, even family folks heavily loaded by daily activities and work. Remember it's not about the length of time but rather intensity so you can perfectly fit them within your daily chores.

It's very much what it is as well ... As I said it won't directly make you lose weight and look like Kellan Lutz. It will clean your bowels and help digestion. You dispose of it and keep in your body minimum calories to aim at healthy BMI.

It's not all about water diet but as your body consists of some 80% of fluids, the fresh drinkable water has to flush the system and replace the old one. Stay hydrated, and you can judge it by colour of your pee ...

Did you read my bit about running up hills?

How is that lazy or not high-intensity?

Do be honest, I'm not requesting fitness advice from you but merely debunking your weird celebrity fad diet that lemons in water help you lose weight.

But, whatever floats your boat.

Nothing erroneous about that opinion. Very very rare screw-ups happen on both sides but 99.9% of the time it's true.

And when it's not, with tap water you are informed MUCH faster and more thoroughly than with bottled.

This is true, but there's other considerations:

Depending on the Country, screw-ups happen a lot more in municipal water than in bottled water. I don't have the statistics in Switzerland, but in Canada for example (Country with the largest amount of freshwater), there are consistently a few 100 advisories. A large corporation could not handle the backlash of such an issues, so similar mistakes are close to nil.

The second consideration is that municipal water treatment is usually a continuous process: So by the time an 'incident' has been flagged, the water of concern is already in contact with delivery water. A blanket statement must be made that the delivered water is unacceptable.

In a properly water bottling facility, the process can be considered semi batch. Where the bottled end product will not be released until the lab data has been analyzed.

Having worked for the government in water treatment as well as a major corporation for bottled water---I still drink tap water chiefly, but I do statistically and logically consider bottle water safer.

Topical quote; it is claimed Governor Rick Snyder’s administration tried to save money by selling polluted Flint river water to the residents of Flint instead of using Detroit’s water sources, and ended up poisoning a hundred thousand people with lead.

This might be useful:

The Zurich water is of a very good quality. Little if any chlorine.

I'm not a Chemist, however the reason it might sting is because they make it very slightly alkaline to help preserve pipework. Since your stomach is very acidic t's not going to be a problem.
