| | [Basel] where to get fresh fish?
Is there a fish market or big supermarket with large fish section in Basel/nearby towns where I can get fresh fish? Thanks!

I don't know about Basel but in Zürich I find Coop to be a reasonable source for fresh fish, especially in the bigger stores. I guess Basel won't be too different.
I'm less impressed by Migros though.

You can try the Migros in Bankverein.
If you go to St Louis, the Gèant (Casino) has a decent display.

I use Manor - can be pricey but they often have specials so that's what I go for. I was also wondering if there was a specialist fish monger - besides the grocery/department stores.

Rond Point (COOP) in St Louis has a better fish counter, IMO, than Casino. It's a little further to travel though.

I'm less impressed by Migros though. | | | | | yeah I found that the meat quality (freshness) in Migros is worse than Coop...

I have been to the Frisch-Fisch Mercato close to Zurich - a very wide range of quality fresh fish. If you check out the weblink, it looks like they have a branch near Basel too http://www.der-frisch-fisch.ch/site/...84/vsprache/DE

Just follow a blind man, and if your hear him say: " ... 'morning girls", then you can't be too far from one.
