Panko available here?

I am looking for Panko (bread crumbs) --- do they sell them anywhere in Zurich or perhaps only at a specialty food market?

Re: Panko available here?

You can definitely find panko in some of the specialty markets. The Nishi Japanese shop near Milchbuck has some. All the Lian Huas around town also have them.

Just ask the sales staff, because it might be hidden next to something.

These are not the same as panko, but are similar to regular bread crumbs from elsewhere in the Western world.

I found panko at the Japanese/Korean restaurant/grocery on Schuetzengasse near the Hb, around the corner from the butcher shop.

The online website leshop.ch sells Panko. I've never looked for it in the Migros itself though.

Re: Panko available here?

I went to the Asian Market near the Oerlikon HB today and the shop owners had no idea what I was talking about.... had never heard of Panko...Perhaps there is another name for it. I skimmed all the aisles and saw the flour section but didn't see anything remotely close to Panko.

Re: Panko available here?

I most definitely bought some in the store near Oerlikon HB too! But no actual English writing on the packet - it was identifiable by the translation sticker on the back. I found the Oerlikon store a little chaotic in its organisation - I am guessing the panko isn't kept next to the flour, etc.
By the way, to save traipsing around Zurich, you could always order some on-line from Nishi's.
