I also read that report..dunno if I believe it though..I find that when
I watch what I eat,I can drink as much coke light as I like and the weight
falls off..anyway,just my 2 cents worth.
but.....the OP wants to drink pure, healthy water (ice cold and a slice of lime works wonders btw) and you're recommending a jug of chemicals and caffeine I'm sure the OP has figured this out and knows it's available.

Can you put that 2 cents into a glass of diet coke please?
(perhaps that will help change your mind)

It seriously has an extremely low pH and I don't think the OP was looking for something else to drink.

She just wants to drink water.

Believe it..... Diet coke is TOXIC

I don't drink much water either, I don't really like it especially when it is really cold. I just drink endless cups of tea instead, mostly green tea with the odd PG Tips thrown in for good measure (no milk or sugar added).

Mary has no particular reputation at present
I just don 't like the taste of plain water unless I'm dying of thirst in the
desert..
I think Coke light beats juices that you buy in the supermarket as they
are full of sugar,so bad for the figure and also the teeth.
If you like water,go ahead and drink it..it's just not for me..
I think adults can decide for themselves what's best for them..each to
his/her own..
Sorry if I'm upsetting the 'health conscious' out there.

I think this is the OPs issue though - she wants to NOT drink fizzy diet drinks but wants to try and make water more appealing - your responses defeat the purpose of the thread

but they are making me smile so thanks

oh petal....... nobody is upset

You have just made two fundamental errors:

1) suggesting somebody should drink diet coke instead of tap water is just WAY OFF TOPIC, and
2) Announcing that that the earth is still flat is FAR MORE accurate than suggesting diet coke isn't bad for you.

The thread isn't about "Do you like water", but rather, "How can I FIX the water taste so I can drink it"

Add some lemon slices and mint and pop it in the fridge for a while.

Re: Help me drink tap water please!

I was never a huge fan of water, till I got here, now I find it hard to bother drinking anything else (non-alcoholic).

When I lived in a less tasty water area, I used to make a huge jug of lemon herbal tea and stick it in the fridge.

Re: Help me drink tap water please!

I'd go with the Brita from the fridge, or not, but to help me drink more, as I find it difficult to take, (but worse still if it has old pipe flavours and yummy moldy additives in pre-Brita state), you really cannot beat a simple slice of lemon. It changes from it from being a chore and a drag to a real pleasure, even at room temperature.

Re: Help me drink tap water please!

Do the Brita filters even remove the excessive calcium (or a large quantity of it)?

I know the water here in Zug is very hard, but I have to wipe out the kettle after every 2nd or 3rd boil to stop it sludging up. If not, I actually end up with bits in the bottom of my cuppa char, and that is just not on!

Re: Help me drink tap water please!

This may sound really weird, but we live near the lake and our dishwasher water smells horrible. (We've tried changing soaps, nope, it's the water.) Our dishes smell like lake water when we pull them out, vaguely swampy. My husband is so freaked out by the smell that I rewash the dishes in the sink so he can eat (the water out of the sink smells fine-ish, strangely). Does anyone have any insights?

Where we live the tap water tastes great, comes from a spring I'm told. Just a couple of kilometers away at my work the water is undrinkable, absolutely awful. Apparently comes from the lake and is treated. I run that through a Brita and it tastes fine . I'm told it's good to keep the Brita in the fridge as it can develop mold in the filter cartridge, but I don't and I haven't noticed any mold-ish smells or flavors.

Re: Help me drink tap water please!

Have you checked that the water outlet pipe is draining fully when it is finished the wash cycle? If it is holding stagnant water it could be causing a bad smell especially in this heat.

Re: Help me drink tap water please!

I could always bring some of my local tap water with me for you next time I visit. It is, in my experience, amongst the best tasting water I have ever had the pleasure to drink.

I've also found that a drop of water in a glass of whisky can really make a difference to the taste of the water
