Last Supper

Well, technically not my last supper, just the last meal I have in the UK before moving to Zurich. I'm looking for suggestions for this symbolic event. It really is just symbolic as I'll be returning to the UK fairly regularly, but I'd like your ideas and suggestions. I'm in Ramsgate on the Kent coast, but London is an option. Some of my own ideas so far:

1. KFC: One just down the road and given the lengths (and distances) certain people on here go to get KFC I thought I might stock up.
2. Roast dinner: traditionally British but a bit overrated as far as I'm concerned.
3. Curry: Something hot and tasty. And make sure to get a seat near the toilet on the flight.
4. Fish and chips: Traditional takeaway or perhaps the more upmarket Eddie Gibert's variety.
5. Pie and chips: Chicken and mushroom pie and chips from a chip shop.
6. Full English breakfast from a greasy spoon.
7. Caribbean meal (probably roti) from the Hummingbird Restaurant in Findsbury Park.
8. Two pints of lager and a packet of crisps.

What should I go for? What have I missed?

Re: Last Supper

From your choice, a good quality fish and chips, then a pint and 2 packets of crisps in a nice pub.

If you are a tea drinker, bring lots of your favourite.

Re: Last Supper

Fish 'n' Chips. Can't get the real deal anywhere here and what you can get doesn't even come close.

That said, dude, whatever you choose, enjoy each mouthwatering morsel.

PS: Hope you still got some of that St Lucian rum left!

Re: Last Supper

I'd go for Idea #4 - no question about that. Throw in some mushy peas and the chicken and mushroom pie whilst you are at it too.

Its been a pain in the backside trying to find proper fish and chips in this country, and I am not talking about those silly little fish nuggets they try to pass off as fish and chips. At least KFC is reachable by car. Larger and crisps can be found in the English pubs here (albeit at an inflated price). English breakkie can be easily made (with proper bacon available here) too.

Welcome in advance

EDIT: oooo snap Isha!

Re: Last Supper

Beat me to it Adrian, lol.
Come on, Sunday roast is so good- I'd kill for a properly hung rib of beef with Yorkshires. Butchers have lots of fancy stuff in CH, but you can't get a proper 20+ day rib.

Aliens yearning for fish and chips unite!

Well TitanTurbo10, you are well on the way to getting into real trouble with this particular Moderator. This is provocation to the nth degree.

A couple of groans and a bit of bad reputation to start off with I think. But I'll sure keep the Ban Hammer handy in case you start this sort of Thread again.

Re: Last Supper

In your shoes, I wouldn't choose a meal. I'd choose an experience: a pint or two of your favourite beer in a country pub, to a soundtrack of the locals exchanging friendly banter and playing dominoes, accompanied by a bag of pork scratchings.

You can't buy that for love nor money in any of the expat shops in Switzerland.

Bad luck mate. The guy is coming to Zürich - we'll all be queuing up before the train from Basel gets in.

Yep...I come from the home of Viagra! And before anyone asks, no, I can't bring you any!

I live less than 5 minutes walk from Waitrose, very near the library, and the Cod Father is still there. I haven't had fish and chips from there so I may give them a try before I leave.

I used to help run a Classic Car show in Sandwich at the Caravan Park ("The Classic Sandwich") , Sandwich is such a lovely little place, I hope the closures haven't hit too hard.

Re: Last Supper

@all Rum lovers... Let's get an event going. Warm Summer nights, a beautiful picnic place a few minutes walk from Burgwiess Tram stop by a river in a dell in the forest... (T11), some Ragga Reggae, Soca and Dancehall music... Peas and Rice, jerk chicken, fish curry...

After eating, take a flight to Basel from the UK and the train to Zurich. It's a muuuuuuuch nicer route. And don't forget that bag of leftovers..... a-m-b-u-s-h
