It looks like he may have to expand his product lines as this stuff is sure to sell like hotcakes ... http://www.independent.co.uk/life-st...o-2340854.html | This user would like to thank NSchulzi for this useful post: | |

I really can't imagine any Swiss person even wanting to try this garbage.
Alex James doesn't actually make cheese, he comes up with ideas and gives them to established cheese makers who make them for him, he just pockets a royalty.
With this junk, I am guessing he had very little to do with it in the first place, it was probably created by an industrial dairy with Asda and they approached him with an offer he couldn't refuse for him to endorse it.
No wonder Europe laughs at UK food when supermarkets will promote this and many Brits will even eat it, believing it is something special. It's just a gimmick to sell the cheapest, nastiest junk for a profit.

Alex James doesn't actually make cheese... | | | | | True that. But I think I'd buy even a inedible piece of dirt with the pic of the Blur bass player, hahaha. Gimmicky it is, sure, I agree.
Why did I read somewhere he really had a dairy farm and enjoyed cheese farming, etc etc. The power of marketing.
Nothing will ever beat your cheese, GG, no worries.

I think the idea of flavoured cheeses certainly has more potential than is currently being realised, and I also certainly think that even chicken would rather not be tikka masala flavoured. For me, the best scope to flavour cheeses is with fresh, soft cheese especially from goat or sheep. My neighbourhood kiosk in Cairo used to make this giant slab of white goats milk cheese covered in a thick topping of thyme, chilli and pickled lemon rind (and sometimes shaved olives). Truly one of my best cheese experiences, especially crushed into some freshly baked bread along with a turkish coffee. I think that flavouring a good, hard cheese can often be like mixing coke with a good wine - you're standing in the way of flavours rather than adding to them. I think most people (even Alex James) might agree that his flavoured cheeses are pretty ridiculous though.

So there you have it. AdrianLondon's top tip for avoiding the "double dip" - eat tikka cheese! It's like having a bad curry. With cheese!! And for my second slogan, it's like having bad cheese. With a curry!!

I like flavored foods, either by spices or herbs.
I think people will buy these new ones for different things than real cheese, like kids school snacks, into sandwiches, etc. The real deli cheese will probably be still eaten with wine, olives and other tapaz kind of stuff. Yum.
I can see moms throwing some Blur Cheese into kids' school snack boxes.

| | Re: Has GG got competition? | Quote: | | | | | Erm...why can't the kids be given the good cheese and the olives | | | | | Sure they can and are, like, ehm, I do that (and GG's chedar is a great hit with my kiddo, she eats raclette, fondue, gruyere, the olives will have to wait, but I found great ones on our market, one Arab importer has a stand with millions of them, the imperial peru is the best, or whatsit called, herbs, mint, thyme drenched purple olives), but not all kids will eat it. Even if you try way from the start. Then they taste the gimmick from their buddies and don't want the real foods. Loads of folks give up. Have you seen recent English parenting shows? Kids 5yr old that ever ate only junk, pizzas, fries, burgers, coke, fanta.
The great thing about little kids, good quality cheese, like GG's chedar (and good CH cheese we get here), makes great finger food, it also has appealing texture on the palate, zero additives. And is salty, which makes kids drink in the summer. Love it.

They'll be tutting about "oh the rich bankers and their, what are they called again, Olives? haha, what a silly word" all the way to McDonalds. Our local Manor chedar sucks. I tried it again, after some time, and all I brought home was an expensive piece of wet stuff, that soaked up some ugly odours from their fridge. How did they manage that...It's true, it's portioned way before and wrapped only in cling wrap, sitting in their frigo. Still did a decent grilled sandwich, but I had to lay it with bruchetta spread inside to get rid of the frost bite smell, so no real chedar taste. Ugh. Should have put some curry powder init and make Blur cheese.

Grumpy stocking Laughing Cow Cheese Triangles | | | | | Nothing wrong with Laughing Cow - it's almost 100% milk derived (cheese, milk, cream, whey etc), not unhealthy and a pretty perfect version of what it is. Check out a package and you'll struggle to find the word "cheese" so at least they're honest. Tikka Masala cheese is an abomination.

I'm not so sure about Pizza flavour though, yes, even that must be far better than tikka flavour
