Where to find spring water?

Hi everyone, I have checked the usual Migros and Coop. I could not find spring water (not the same as mineral water). Have anyone seen it being sold anywhere?

Thanks!

1) find a river
2) follow it upstream
3) repeat (2) until spring found
4) drink

Re: Where to find spring water?

Hi Ninjela

This is what you need:

Swisseau

You won't find it (apparently) in normal supermarkets as it's too important for that (and the people that need it don't shop in such places).

What I don't get: What is the difference between mineral water that comes from a spring (Valser, Elmer, Rhäzünser, Zurzacher, Eptinger etc). and spring water?

Re: Where to find spring water?

No need to groan everybody.

Statistic for Tapwater in the canton you live in:

1/3 of water is spring water.
2/3 of water is ground water.

The quality of tapwater is usually better than bottled water and
it's cheap. Again, check you tap.

I've stopped buying mineral water even if I was told the S.I.L. won't drink tap water if she comes to our place.

Now she drinks it

When people are telling you to open a tap is because the water that comes out of the tap is spring water...Luzern it's coming from Pilatus for example. It's not actually a joke, the water from the tap is on the same level as Evian, it's why often if you want something with bubbles you have to buy it in a bottle because it's already offered at your home, and it's hard to rival the marketing of that one.

Yes, our tap water is spring water (yes, really). It comes from the Monte Tamaro aquifer.

We got over that little issue by filling a mineral water bottle from the tap. Deceitful, eh?

I would have done that and then after a few visits, let her know the truth.

Actually, I did it with wine once. We had someone to stay who decided that the wines that tasted the best were the ones that cost the most and she always turned up her nose at cheap wines so I let he taste a 10CHF bottle of wine and a 50CHF bottle of wine and she said she couldn't tell the difference and they were both of equal price.

Having said that, I know other people who really appreciate a bottle of good wine - for the right reasons.

If the OP lives in Aarau as stated, her tap water will be groundwater (source: http://www.wasserqualitaet.ch/)

It should still be (very) good to drink though.

Ninjala, what are you using it for? The only place I can think of offhand where mineral content makes a real difference is pickles.

Thanks for the info! When I first moved here from the US, I saw mineral water everywhere and was like YAY because it is more expensive in the US vs bottled spring water, aka without the minerals in it lol. But now I am starting to miss the sweet crisp taste of spring water (eg. Fuji spring water). Mineral water doesnt taste the same. I find it to be very bland in taste, my mom and co-worker (who was born and raised here) also agree.
I guess also because I really miss home and am trying to find comfort in things that remind me of where I came from.

Maybe a Brtia water purifier might be able to help with that. Or taking tap water, putting it in a bottle, then in the fridge for an hour or so.

Re: Where to find spring water?

I agree with the OP that neither the tap water here nor the mineral water tastes anything like the spring water I use to drink in the States.

And I also really miss it because, for one thing, after I started drinking spring water for a few weeks, I felt my energy level dramatically increase. I have no idea why, but it did. I think the spring water was also oxygenated or something, though it wasn't like the "sparkly" gassed water you get here.
