Cornelian Cherry (cornus mas) Recipes?

I've just realized that the tree at the back of my garden which has for years littered my lawn with an odd little red fruit is a Cornelian Cherry (Kornelkirsche, cornus mas) - and that the fruit is edible, albeit somewhat sour - according to Wiki a used in sauces and jams.

Since canning is becoming quite a hobby for me, I'm keen do something with the fruit this year. So - do any of you have a tried-and-true recipe for Kornelkirsche?

Many thanks.
