Kosher chocolate

Does anyone know if it is possible to buy kosher chocolate in Zurich? And if so, where such a thing is available? Thanks!

Thanks.

By the way, there is an updated list of Kosher foods from the icz

http://www.icz.org/modules/news/arti...ocation_id=246

Apparently many Kosher foods are not labeled as such.

I used to work for a sugar manufacturer that had a Rabbi on the Bill of Materials, so they could include him in their MRP run. I.e. book him enough in advance so he'd be available to bless the sugar so it could be labelled Kosher - Suitable for Passover.

In the Scottish plant, they used Rabbi Burns.

Like normal chocolate, you just pay a rabbi to supervise the production.

Re: Kosher chocolate

Well, it certainly isn't this:

The food hall in the basement of Jelmoli used to have a kosher section. I don't know if it's still there, but if you're in Zurich anyway, it might be worth a look.

Re: Kosher chocolate

so interesting. I had no clue that also existed.
Just thought Kosher was another word for Halal.
The concept does not exist in Islam though for such derivates.
As long as it has no poison, pork, then its all halal.
Meat on the other hand needs to be halal for consumtion.
Which is not just a blessing but to slaughter the animal according to Islamic traditions, meaning no blood being left in.

Re: Kosher chocolate

If it's important to some people for reasons of religious observance, and there's a market to sustain it, why would it be ridiculous??

It's one of the things I do love about Switzerland, not indulging in all this religious differentiation...I'm all for people observing their own religion, just keep it to themselves...Kosher chocolate?...Really?...It's no different than Halal chocolate or Buddhist ones...It's chocolate

It's ridiculous to me and I suspect to a great number of others as well...You want to religify your food?...Take it home or take it to your place of worship and have it done there but a cottage industry for it?...Ludicrous

If people want to buy it and other people are prepared to sell it to them, how is that a problem for you?

Because, in addition to saying that it is ridiculous, you also said:

... which just makes you sound like an illiberal tosser.

As long as there is a market for kosher chocolate, there will be kosher chocolate.

If you find that ridiculous, hard (kosher) cheese.

And your comments make you sound like the sort of religious zealot that needs to announce to the world your religion and how you can't eat everyday things the same way others do...In other words, self serving egotism

Fortunately, we live in Suisse, where that sort of egotism is not indulged like it is elsewhere

Kosher chocolate, one of the more ridiculous things in the world - followed not too far behind by those who would defend it

The only thing ludicrous FC Barca, would be your lack of instruction concerning the Old Testament (Pentateuch to be precise).

@FCBarca, I take it you can't help the OP in their quest, in which case I suggest you take your opinions elsewhere.

What is ridiculous is that you have not been banned for demonstrating a total lack of respect for something you obviously know nothing about.
