My favourites are Quollfrisch (only in the bottle) and Schutzengarten
Their "Naturperle" is not something to sneer at...at all.

SwissG, thanks for posting this. As I wrote on Facebook, despite the stupendous hangover I had last time I visited the Rappi brewery, I greatly regret not being able to make the September 25 event (will be visiting family).

Just a thought--surely there is enough interest on this forum to put it up as a commercial event? I know many people here appreciate your beer and I suspect there'd be brisk interest in the event. Hope it's a good one, gutted to miss it!
Already on the events page.

Next week at this time I will be taking on a little BFM, Trois Dames, and some wicked Porter from Bad Attitude.

Maybe we can do it again next year and you can come.

Brasserie des Franches-Montagnes brews some fine beers! I love their Jurassian Imperial Stout (Cuvée Alex Le Rouge) and La Meule. They are having an open house on the 4th & 5th of November. Can highly recommend a visit to the beautiful region for some tasty brews!
Here is the website about the open-house - in English.

Prices seem quite reasonable to me.

On top, can absolutely reccommend the train ride, from both directions!

There's always Samichlaus, now made in Austria but is a Swiss beer. One of the worlds strongest lager beers

Re: Any must-try Swiss beers?

For those people in Suisse Romande, as well as the BFM beers there is also Dr. Gabs - a small microbrewery in Epalinges.

There's also the Brasserie du Chateau in Lausanne which does at least 5 beers (lager, white beer, stout, ginger! and a pretty good IPA). I've found them for sale in one shop in Lausanne so far . La Ferme Vaudois in Place Palud (next to l'Hotel de Ville)... They also sell the BFM beers.

This Rappi beer does sound good, I'll have to see if I can track some down..

It's a one man show and he does make good beer. I like the Amber brew. I went for a brewing course to him last month. He is very passionate about the product and I now have several cases at home!

While I'm on the run Quöllfrisch is my choice.

Re: Any must-try Swiss beers?

There was a stand at the Fête des Vendanges last weekend selling "Bière de Neuch" which I have not come across before... the "bière ambrée" was like a good English bitter. No idea where it comes from though.

Re: Any must-try Swiss beers?

Yes, Brasserie des Franches-Montagnes (or BFM for short) have amazing beers, different from the mainstream stuff. They even have a winter beer meant to be drunk hot, similar to mulled wine. The labels and the names are funny and creative, too.

Re: Any must-try Swiss beers?

Just remembered this one: NZZ published an article on small and micro breweries in Switzerland a year ago: http://www.nzz.ch/nachrichten/wirtsc...1.7449214.html
You'll find a map showing them all if you scroll down the article. The font is very small, but you can just about still read it.

Good suggestion. They are a fun group over there. Light and nutty, unlike their beer.

+1

(It's the only thing I'll pick up during a quick Migros/Coop tour.)

Egger Bier!
And I had one from Graubünden, but I don't remember the name.
But we had this question already, as I remember...
