I have not been drinking milk, yogurt and cheese (other than a drop in my tea) for 8years now. and my Calcium levels are fine!

It lasts for years in your body before your tank runs low. It's very important to keep track of it though.

Marmite is cool. Salty, but hey, better than injections. Actually, docs would always tell me (before I found out way later on about my lower fake calcium absorbancy), that B12 would be most of my worries. The thing is, though, one gets high on semi fasting diet, or very restrictive diet, since it's a total trip, very energizing, with all the sunny fruits and veggies...Being low on B12 will be masked by that a tiny bit, in my exerience, then you start feeling super sluggish and down if you start needing B12, irritated. It improves a 2-3 weeks into the intensive treatment, or at least it worked like that for me (I get Burgerstein here if Marmite isn't enough).

I guess, you would think it would be fine to round up yourself(I'm assuming you are male) and your mates, keep you in stables with food and water, and hook you guys up to some machine twice a day, to collect all our semen, so it could be sold for a poor price? | | | | | You've become quite the militant in one day!
Actually, in Switzerland, if you buy bio milk, it's isn't like this. Come to the dairy farms in my area if you don't believe me. (and I know a lot in the U.K that are lovely places as well).
My post about the OPs boys become carnivores wasn't solely a joke.
People here are going on about a vegan diet being a valid diet. Well, so is a carnivore diet and eskimos have been surviving longer than us on such a diet (and are healthy too).
I wondered whether the OP was willing to cook yet another set of meals for her boys if they decided only to eat meat.
And what if the husband (assumption here, I know), decided that he only wanted to eat fish and seaweed?
Where will the OP draw the line?
Personally, I think there have been some great posts on here recommending that the daughter mucks in and does the cooking and food sourcing and educating herself to experience how difficult it is.
And, if the daughter wants some re-educating about livestock farming, in Switzerland at least, there are plenty of farms around us where she can see grass fed animals in a pleasant environment.

What is the problem with drinking milk? Even if it's other species milk? If it gives people pleasure and helps them keep the calcium intake, why not let people enjoy their warm cup of cow juice? Really, does one need to take immediately the banner "be anti-milk because it's possible to live without it"?
Yes, there are cultures that live without milk (I have to because I am allergic). There are cultures that live without meat. There are cultures that live without beer.
But just because someone else can do it, there is no need to go berserk on those that chose to do it.
The great thing about getting out of the “Neolithic diet” or the “ancestors diet” or whatever, is the fact that us, living comfortably here in Switzerland, get to chose what we want to eat. We also get to find out what diet is actually healthy to each individual. Let people live happily and responsibly with their choices. | Quote: | | | | | Corn flakes is really unhealthy. Be a nice bird and chew some seeds or plain nuts | | | | | Corn flakes are not really unhealthy. There are healthy choices available. There is actually no unhealthy food per se. What defines "unhealthiness" is the quantity intake.

| | | | | Personally I have not taken any injections and my levels are still normal after a decade of being a vegetable. B12 is very important though so like me everyone should keep track. It takes few years before the body loses it's B12 reserves.

| | Re: Vegan advice | Quote: | | | | | Does she want to die????
Arent you being a bit over dramatic??? | | | | | Well I wasn't being entirely serious, as you might have inferred from the "seriously" starting the next sentence.
But the point was that it will be very difficult, especially here in Switzerland, to obtain sufficient nutrition from a vegan diet that also excludes soy, nuts, capsicums and pulses.
Thanks for the groan, BTW. Note that you're the one who seems to be proselytising here, not me. | Quote: | | | | | I am so certain that, if we lived in a world where there were no slaughter houses or Butchers, and if we had to purchase our Cows, Lambs, Chickens and then slaughter the animal ourselves, skin them, De-bowel them ,and chopped them up into neat freezable sizes, we would be consuming so much meat either! | | | | | Only because of the extra work involved. Most carnivores would be happy to do so in principle, and the idea that we're somehow ignorant of what's involved in meat production just doesn't ring true at all, especially not in this day and age.

There are natural cornflakes, fo sho. I prefer the hippie plain muesli, if anything, but there certainly are options for folks who want to stick to the usual foods, albeit in natural or vegan form. Vegan sausages were pushing it, though. Awesome taste, but still weird (and overly processed, sure).

| | | | | I disagree - I think there's a hell of a lot of ignorance in this day and age.
The only difference between this day and age and an earlier day and age is that there's really no excuse for it now.
