Thermomix

Does anyone have one? Can you get hold of one easily enough in CH, preferably Basel?

Thanks.

Re: Thermomix

I've been looking for one. I have used them in professional kitchens - they are awesome but a little pricy. The only place I have seen them for sale is online.

Re: Thermomix

My mother in law has one as does a friend of hers nearby...My understanding is that they purchased them through local reps...I can ask who the local reps are if there are those who are interested

BTW, I've sampled many a dish from the Thermomix and I'm very impressed with it...From soups to ice cream, the possibilities seem endless

Same question as with Tefal ActiFry: Could I get a discount for buying it despite its utter ugliness?

Re: Thermomix

They are 1290 CHF, which is the standard all inclusive pack and all most people would probably need.... unless you get into catering for larger /more complex events, in which case you may want an extra bowl (around 300 CHF from memory).

You may find one on e-bay cheaper, but you do not get the demo, support, or warranty that way.

You can buy them a few hundred CHF cheaper new in Germany with full warranty. Demo and support come from the distributor but let's be real about support, technical support comes with a manufacturers warranty. Other support, like offering cooking tips, is not a reason for me to pay extra. There are already tons of youtube videos to learn from available for free.
From what I can find using google searches it looks like they're going the private distribution agent method rather than shops to keep prices higher and provide other support by creating a sense of exclusivity to the product.

They are actually pretty cool, a step up from the food processors of the world as you can also cook (steamer and wok style) with it rather than just chop, mince and mix.

Disclaimer - I've used one twice, am not a distributor and do not at this time own one, but from what I've seen and done with one am considering buying one.

Re: Thermomix

A good friend has bought one and is in love with it. I don't have a steamer or a slicer so this might be a machine for me. Could anyone give more advice on this? Pros and cons? The machine sounds very interesting but pricey.

Re: Thermomix

I have one and I love it! Use it to make bread, marmalade, spreadable butter, milchreis, cookies, soups, custards, mashed potato......

Cost about as much as a Jura coffee machine but makes a heck of a lot more.

Thermomix..

Hello..

Does anyone have a Thermomix.. ? It is quiet pricey but my friends swear by it...any one ready to share their experience.. What's it like, in regards to how handy is it, and do you use it very often...and hasn't joined the other machines in a cupboard waiting to be used once in a blue moon...

Thanks..

Re: Thermomix

If I have a VERY good food processor and blender, plus a fully equipped kitchen with induction hob and steam oven, is there any value having a Thermomix?
