I would very much like Nandos to be present on Swiss market. Lekker!

The people that go in them a lot spend half their time stuffing their faces and the other half trying to lose weight.

It's a vicious circle of their own making.

I'm sure KFC is fine to have once in a while.
I don't think raclette or fondue or rosti for that matter are particularly healthy either.

Only had KFC once way back in 1979 and threw up. Never touched it since.

personally the nandos in UK is terrible compared to the SA counterpart...not to mention overpriced and tastes so bland...

The locations they are planning (within the next 2 years) are: Zurich, Basel, Bern and Lucerne in the Swiss German part and Geneva and Lausanne in the Swiss Romand.

It seems that Migros is expanding 5x a similar concept of restaurants - Chickeria.

Maybe it's is good news afterall because the Swiss are capable of making any junk food taste like a gourmet

My OH says the same, so why not import the SA original model, not the watered down UK model.

Food is much spicier in the U.K. than here at the moment anyway.

I had a kebab here the other day which was the blandest I've ever had.
They bought over a pot of 'extra hot' chili sauce. I think they must have bought over the ketchup instead.

Bizarrely did I find the Nandos in Asia not just way better than the UK but even better than their home country... In Malaysia and Singapore are they fully serviced restaurants that feel way nicer than that fast food style you get in London.

There's no other places in the world like the ones in Joburg serving Nando's in vibrant restaurants. The peri-peri sauce with its varieties available everywhere

If I asked a waitress for spicy sauce tasting like hot Peri-Peri, she would have asked me here in CH "Are you sure, sir? Should I call an ambulance?"

Got a jar of chilli powder from Co-op that I could eat off the spoon, but I've since found an Indian grocers near Limmatplatz who stocks green finger chillies, etc. There's another Indian grocers recently opened in Küsnacht, and he's surprised that his customers are mainly American and Brits, til I told him I used to live a mile from the Patak's factory.

I used to go to a KFC near Staufacher in the early 80's. Can't remember when it closed.

Whilst not wishing to get into this argument again but basically Swiss food is like nursery food - bland and easy to feed fussy children.

For reasons I can no longer recall, mirfield owes me a bucket of chicken from KFC. I suspect he was waiting for them to open in Basel rather than drive me to the drudgery of a Mulhouse industrial complex.

The last laugh will be mine though, as I hate to think what a bucket of KFC will cost here. I wonder if they will use local produce.

Each to their own. It's one's individual taste but also it might be a cultural thing in general. The original Swiss cuisine doesn't contain spicy food so that they were taught by generations this way. Only multi cultural and well travelled individuals know the difference.

I find lot of contradictory statements about the hot food though. Some articles say it kills you and some claim it keeps you healthy e.g.

Personally, I like spicy food once in a while but don't get crazy to have it everyday.
