Without reading the whole thread, so this may already have been reported, but there is now a KFC in Mendrisio, between Lugano and the Italian border. So if you're coming from the north heading south, you can get a KFC fix just before leaving Switzerland.
The only thing I like there is the coleslaw. My son loves the spicy chicken wings but dislikes the coleslaw. Perfect!!

Took a few years but now you get your KFC
Volketswil ZH
In Volketswil, the first branch of Kentucky Fried Chicken opens in the greater Zurich area on Thursday Dec 13 2018. The crowd is big. | Quote: | | | | | Hi everyone!
Is there a KFC in Zurich? I'm going to have a few visitors who are big KFC fans (and I must admit I enjoy it every now and again despite not being at all into fast food). I tried to have a look around but ended up with nothing (which might very well indicate that there are no KFC around ;-)

Guess replacing popcorn with chicken wings will be okay for the crowd. | Quote: | | | | | .......

But why is it called KFC in the French part, while in the French part of Canada it is called PFK? http://www.leparisien.fr/societe/fra...18-7618458.php

Quebec has a provincial law that store names have to be in French. Don't know if similar laws exist in other French speaking countries.

Quebec is funny. Some terms like "Smoked Meat" have become so common that they are determined to be "French".
Montreal Smoked Meat, whatever the language, is the best on the planet.

I wonder if I still like that stuff, I came off junk-food ages ago.
But now that it's here, I will give it a go. If only for old time sake.

After many years of KFC deprivation, I discovered during my trips to America that there are far superior fried chicken chains in the USA, in particular Popeyes and Churchs. But in general the stuff is probably the most unhealthy fastfood you can eat. I avoid them now.

Still may be better than proper restaurants.
"The calorie content of meals in UK restaurants is "excessive" and sit-down restaurants are unhealthier than fast-food chains, BMJ research suggests.
Health experts say meals should not exceed 600 calories, but in this study they averaged 1,033 in restaurants and 751 in fast-food chains.
University of Liverpool researchers analysed thousands of meals from places like Hungry Horse and McDonald's.
They said their findings were a cause for concern.
The research team looked at more than 13,500 meals on the menus of 21 sit-down restaurants and six fast-food chains.
By using online company information on calorie content, only one in 10 meals was classed as healthy or fewer than 600kcal, as recommended by Public Health England.
And nearly half of the meals contained 1,000kcal or more.
Sit-down restaurants were five times more likely to offer high-calorie meals of 1,000kcal or more than fast-food restaurants, the research found." https://www.bbc.com/news/health-46540132
Given the enormous portion sizes in the USA, they're probably even worse. | The following 2 users would like to thank Medea Fleecestealer for this useful post: | |
