The queues are as long as at Mme. Tussaud’s when we went there in 2010. We abandoned the outing. We’ve abandoned the KFC as well. Just don’t wanna wait I hour for a piece of chicken that actually, one can make at home just as well.
When the KFC at Volketswil opened up they had long queues as well, but they moved fast - about 20 minutes despite the queue being literally out the door and around the corner.

And how many weeks until the hype is over and one can just walk in like in any other place?

Same as in Geneva, when KFC was opened for couple weeks there was huge waiting period with long lines. Now it seems empty for most of the day, except on Friday evening and on weekends.

Was back at Volketswil the other day, there were a bunch of people there but only a short queue. Even the one at Zurich airport has a reasonable wait time, I've been out there to pick up a few people recently. The touch-screen order board helps as well - although whose idea was it to put the shakes under desserts, rather than drinks? Made it hard to find one ... :/

Re: KFC in Switzerland?

After missing KFC for so many years, now that one has finally opened up near Zurich, the fact that it is still a 40 minute drive means I haven't gone there yet!

Kind of like all the missing salad dressings. Now when I go back to the USA and they offer me a bewildering choice of salad dressings, now I always ask for French. I have become Borg.

Pizza Huts in Switzerland? Seriously? I only remember them from the States.

But there used to be a Wendy's at Central in Zurich I think. Not that I actually missed it,when it was gone.

There were two in Geneva, One across from where the new KFC is now, at the gare and one on Louis Cassai (across from IATA). That one closed soon after IATA moved to the Swissair Centre (It is still called that, but that is another thread.)

Wendy’s by the cinema Plaza and the 1st KFC was in Plainpalais.
I have a teen memory of a 3rd Pizzahut elsewhere but the location in GVA doesn’t come to mind.

Anybody remember the opening of the 1st MacDonald’s in 1976?
I burst into tears because we went in Oct and it only was meant to open in Nov.
My Mom took us to the only decent hamburger joint Roadrunner’s (ever). It was a great little place across from Ecolint in Chêne Bougeries.
I wonder if it still exists?

Wow !! Still the same, it has hardly changed.
First Rootbeer float ever

If you ever pass by Geneva and would like a darn good burger, Roadrunner’s is it.

For some reason I never do (pass by Geneva) but I'll keep it in mind should there be the famous exception.

So you got an other thing to look forward to, moving back.

I’m not moving back , I’m Swiss-American and I live here, just no longer in Geneva.

But yes, it’s a nice little burger place, quite popular since the early 70s.

wasn't there a pizza hut where the coop is near Hbhf in ZH? years back. I'm not a KFC fan - but i am however currently obsessed with chickeria!

Yup, next to the Polybähnli. At Limmatplatz as well. Ages ago.

No wonder I mix you up with other people - living in Singapore being obsessed with a Migros-place.

I just saw there is a Chickeria in Winterthur. Might give it a try sometime.

The one next to Polybähnli I remember. It seemed to be gone from one day to the next.
