Damn, got a major craving for a box of some of the Colonels delectable, salty, fatty goodness now.
Sorry, I don't know you well enough for that sort of thing.

KFC in Germany - probably closer than Vienna for most of us.

Stuttgart and Sindelfingen are the southernmost ones I was able to locate.

Re: KFC in Switzerland?

It's weird... There are SOOOOOO many McDees in Switzerland, which shows the Swiss also eat junk food, but so few other options. I think Wendy's and KFC would really work here. So would Quiznos and Subway/Dagwoods.

Re: KFC in Switzerland?

A healthier, tastier option for fast-food chicken ........ Nando's! Available in the UK, Australia and Southern Africa. Alas, there's a "wannabe" place (which shall remain nameless - find out for yourselves ) near Escher-Wyss Platz in Zürich which recently opened ... defo not up to Nando's high standards though.

There is a BK at Sihlcity.

And there is a Subway in Zurich.

Commercial success will show whether the Swiss like non-McD junk food.

IMVHO Subway is waaaay over-priced. Try "Picnic" just off of Bahnhofstrasse ... healthy and tasty too ....

Except for Zurich and Geneva (which only has BK).

Just had the craving myself, I only visited once a month back in the UK but it tastes so good!

Looks like I'll have to have a BK here in Baden instead !

Re: KFC in Switzerland?

Beware the dangers of easily available fast food.

I've got easy access to KFC, McDs, Burger King, Subway, loads of traditional Fish and Chip shops and a multitude of curry houses and Chinese restaurants now.

It doesn't help the waistline I can tell you.

Must ..... resist .....

Re: KFC in Switzerland?

You can get your deep fried fried chicken fix here. The locals have something called Chicken in a basket, Huenli im Chürbli or Poulet im Chürbli.

One place I like serves it with a nice curry dip. The best part of all is they serve real chickens with no added hormones. Much better than the genetic experiments KFC serves.

I sometime go to one in Aargau. I think this is the one:

Restaurant Alpenblick
Neudorf
CH-4813 Uerkheim
Aargau
062 721 1328

If you have a motorcycle, the country roads that lead to this restaurant are very nice.

Re:At risk of shocking you, re KFC

After happily munching down KFC, and more frequently ''Pollo Loco" (Best chicken chain in Socal in my view) I took the plunge and tasted a piece of rotisserie chicken (about CHF 3.50) at the local COOP supermarket hot food stand. With tears, I need to tell you that it tastes better than KFC, and in addition, has not been rinsed in a chlorine solution, like all US chicken.

Of course, you almost get a meal in the US for this single chicken leg price...but do try it.

I miss El Pollo Loco

I agree the chicken here is better quality, but I find the seasoning is too salty.

Re: At risk of shocking you, re KFC

In CA, Safeway rotisserie chicken was pretty good. Costco, was even better.

In Zurich, the old Carrefour in Dietlikon was pretty good, and I would sometimes wait for 30 minutes for them to finsih. Pretty funny, how I could start a lineup of curious Swiss (or other expats) wondering what I was waiting for...

The Migros food court near Limmatplatz serves 1/4 chicken, and I agree with Phos, WAY too salty and overcooked.

Had some chicken nuggets from Domino's last week...about like KFC or McD's nuggets.

Re: KFC in Switzerland?

I miss KFC.

The other chicken takeaways (I've tried Migros, Coop, McD, BK, New York place in Oerlikon) are all too salty in my opinion and/or are weirdly spiced. If I can't have KFC, I would like just normal chicken with none of this funny spicing and extra salt.

If only life weren't soooo hard...
