| | Re: KFC in Switzerland? | Quote: | | | | | There is no KFC in Switzerland.
One - a major problem is that the majority of people on the board approving restaurants actually own restaurants and the introduction of fast food restaurants means a major loss in lunch time revenues for them. I once - years ago - worked with these people.
McD tried so hard to make it into Zug. They failed on every turn only to eventually be permmitted to open one in Baar - and, I cannot comment on how it is going now - but due to all the expats working in Zug the Baar branch was well run over at lunch time. Loads made the bus trip just to eat a Maccas - and they are pricey here.
HOWEVER - my son has been longing for KFC for quite some time now and as his birthday is coming up (friday) I just thought of the perfect meal for him - but alas I dont have a car otherwise I would make the 1 hour drive to Mulhouse .... does anyone know how I could get a feast posted to me????
oven heated but nonetheless a real birthday treat and suprise. I bet anything this one would have him in tears!! | | | | | Take the train to Mulhouse and then use public transport there (looked it up once and a bus stop is quite close)

All failing I have decided that I will train it out there ... I know for one that the effort will really be appreciated and the kid is worth it.
| | | | | Why don't you take your son and his friends with you? Saves dragging buckets of the stuff back with you on a packed Friday rush hour train, plus they can eat it fresh and hot rather than reheated and slightly congealed. | The following 4 users would like to thank for this useful post: | |

| | Re: KFC. I am serious | Quote: | | | | | My eldest son is having a birthday on Friday and I have just realised - the best meal I could produce for him is a KFC feast.
Some may say - how sad - but we have been away from home for so long and everytime my kids see a KFC commercial on TV it is always the same reaction.
So - now I am reaching out if someone could please help me. As I presently do no own a car :
Does anyone out there have a relative / contact who would be willing to buy and courier a KFC feat for me? naturally I would cover all costs ......
I would appreciate any help to realise this for my son. | | | | | To find trains from Zug to Basel should be no problem
Here http://fahrplan.sbb.ch/bin/query.exe/dn?
the connection onward to Mulhouse
and in Mulhouse you can take http://www.mulhouse.fr/fr/transports-en-commun/
you best enquire at the rail-station about the swiftest connection
After your KFC visit you can go to the Place de l'Europe or to the old downtown or to the railways museum or to the motor-car museum

sorry - did I insult you.

all is quite here now and if you wish I am available to discuss.

Thanks all.
will do it per train. my daughter (18) was close to tears when I told her of my plan. I am sure my son will appreciate it - but not as much as I appreciate all he has done for me.
Be a good mum and no matter what - Karma comes back and repays you and it is time that my son had a real treat.
At the moment he believes that we are meeting in Zurich on Friday evening for a restaurant of his choice where he intends to pay while my daughter and I have planned that he will have to come home for a certain reason. He will be so pissed off ... but the end result will bring results. We will photo the reaction and download - will let you know
My son saw on my laptop that KFC had been searched, I asked him -wouldnt it be nice to have Kentukie for dinner for your birthday ... Oh yes mum.
SO - loving the kid as much as I do - I am off for the hunt of KFC on Friday.
whatever happened to roadkill???

We let our kids choose what they want to eat for their birthdays - and they can have anything they want - as long as we can cook it.
(That gets round the buying it in problem).

This son always chose Raclette - even in hottest summer in Aus. This year - as it is his first year of earning a wage he wants to take us out. I want to take us out ... It has been a constant discussion for weeks - or probably months.
Simply - my daughter (younger sister) and I were chatting when a KFC commercial came on and we both were like - this would be the best for xxxx for his birthday.
Perfect would be that would could make a picnic out of it - down the the lake - but we will now do a small fire in the garden and try to make it as much as a picnic as possible. NOSTALGIA.
I just want to do something special for the kid - as he does for me.

Cook something for him? What on earth can KFC possibly have that you're not able to compete with?

no - not becoming mean because I really believe that you do not understand.
It really is not simply about KFC. It is about our bond, his childhood (kfc on the beach while were were fishing and then we decided to stay the night sleeping on the beach. etc etc)
I really is so simple. Simple would be indeed to go out to a restaurant with him and let him pay. Wanting to DO something for someone besides a jumper or a pair of socks is to really go out there and get them something that you know they WILL appreciate in as such that they know that they are appreciated.
for what the cost (incl time etc) of going out to Mulhouse to get this damn feast I am sure that we could go out grandly in Zurich.
It is simply an act of love - but even equally - RESPECT and APPRECIATION.
Sleep well - I trust you are not a meanie. Maybe, and could it be - that you have never had the chance to show someone you love them this much?

Just before I sign off here - to go and study
IF KFC was available in Switzerland - it would not even have become a topic of discussion nor of interest as I can guarantee it would not be a 'craving'.
I just want to do SOMETHING SPECIAL for someone that I love, respect and appreciate. MY SON.
In hinesight - this could be a grand example for all my kids. That small things count and efforts should be made.
Money does NOT ...(please fill in you own, as I really dont want to get into an argument with this one) but thought and consideration AND effort DOES fill the heart and let you know WHAT you are to those that matter.
No hard feelings. Off to my desk now and hopefully achieve something tonight.

Auslady, no hard feelings on my part (apologies if my sarcasm hit the wrong nerve) I do understand the meaning you are trying to convey to your son through the KFC pilgrimage, but it is hard in the context of a forum not to leap at the opportunity for a bit of comic relief. Opinions on KFC are a mixed bag, but most everyone on EF would cross the continent (well, Switzerland? to show their loved ones what that love really is in terms that are more than verbal.
Baur su Lac or KFC, He should save his cash so he can continue to fly free of the nest, and maybe surprise you on your birthday?
(Don't fall asleep on your studies )

Oh no hard feelings at all. I enjoy the banter and exchange. truly ... it is GOOD.
I KNOW that not many are so sentimental about KFC.
The dear boy Should and would indeed probably like to fly the nest but he is such a sucker he feels that he must stay. He is just now earning a wage. He doesnt even have his driving licence for lack of finance and no-one to have practical driving experience with. Aviation is in his blood and a deep love - he would love to get his private pilots licence. We cannot all have everything so it would be ideal that he sticks around a little bit longer instead of wasting it on rent etc and invest his money on his goals.
wow having said that I can imagine what will come back. but honestly -renting / moving out of home just to do it ... what a waste. it is all too expensive. we get on great, no hassles no controlling. generally we get on great and laugh and tease oneanother. why waste money on rent?
Life is too short
and no - have now done about an hour of study and am bored stupid.
will watch a bit of 'A Good Year' and then hit the hay.
good nite you all

It was just that I couldn't understand why KFC (I do now, and I apologise I asked), not the fact that someone would go out of her way for a loved one.
I enjoy making gifts that show someone that "I remembered" (because they once said they liked something)....and it could be only a book, concert tickets, etc.
Hope your plans will come true. |

Tom | | | | | The Swiss Franchisee of KFC in Zürich was involved in criminal affairs, and so KFC Bahnhofplatz suddenly disappeared
Pizza Hut simply was not up to the competition
