Death by Butterzopf

Ok, I may have eaten 500g of butterzopf today. With jam.

Is it worth knowing how many calories I just had, and whether a heart attack is imminent?

Nah. Did you enjoy it? You'll probably have a blood sugar spike, and some constipation. But hey, if it was good....

Re: Death by Butterzopf

I can think of 500g of other things that would be far worse for your projected life expectancy... infact, there is surprisingly little butter and only one egg in a butterzopf, the rest is just flour and a bit of milk. So all in all, you could have done far worse ...

Re: Death by Butterzopf

Relax. It's not a habit (yet), right? An occasional Zopf-binge is allowed.

My kids used to slice up and devour a whole Zopf straight out of the oven, slathered with (more) butter, honey, and jam — and they're all alive and well today.

...and it's at the top of my shopping list for tomorrow.

(that's not some kind of death wish, is it?)

Re: Death by Butterzopf

Hubby and I eat one between us every Sunday morning, with butter and jam and freshly made coffee. Great way to start the day. Then it's back to the porridge on Monday to clean out the old arteries!

Re: Death by Butterzopf

Nah, ignorance is bliss

My (Swiss) husband just ate his own weight in Zopf, with more butter and homemade grape jelly. He's out mowing the lawn, I'm waiting for the heart attack
