Re: Stevia?

You can also get stevia plants at the coop B/H, as well as at many larger garden centers. Look near the herbs. Grows well potted on a balcony, or in an herb garden.

(A few stevia leaves brewed with mint - orange, moroccan, or any of your favorites, or with pineapple sage - makes a tasty summer tea.)

Re: Stevia?

Both Migros and Coop sell it in small tablet dispensers, look where the sugars are sold. Coop also has it in a big jar that replicates sugar by volume (not weight, as stevia is a lot lighter). In Coop, the brand is Assugrin.

You might want to look at more natural alternatives though, in a reform house, for example, if you are interested in something that's less processed. You can even buy a stevia plant if you want in Coop Bau and Hobby.

Re: Stevia?

You should be able to buy it in your local "Reformhaus", for example in Oerlikon
there is one at the Franklinstrasse .

What's Stevia?
In France they have this:

Which is an extract from the Stevia plant and it's used like a natural sweetener. It's closest to sugar but after few times the taste is very dull and you want to go back to sugar anyway.

Re: Stevia?

I've seen Stevia all over the place... everywhere from Reformhaus, Müller, sometimes at Aldi, and if you are really into nature... they are selling the Stevia plant right now at Landi.

Re: Stevia?

Stevia will never take off, IMHO, because it has a foul aniseed aftertaste, beurk... Of course it is a natural intense sweetener, used by South American natives for countless generations, etc., etc. But it tastes funny. Especially if you hate aniseed.

Meh, wife and I just this minute made an almond chocolate cake with Stevia instead of sugar and flour. Has a tiny fraction of carbs now and tastes great, especially with mascarpone, cream, strawberries and a cup of coffee.

Diabetics, those on low carb diets etc would understand the mahoosive benefits were talking here

I reckon it would sell like hot cakes... might have to ask the wife to go industrial.

Re: Stevia?

I find that fake sugars seem to taste better if you combine them; half stevia, half xylitol, that sort of thing. That seems to cancel out each other's weird after taste, and just leave sweetness.

Re: Stevia?

I bought mine at the Müller Reformhaus, here is a link to Luzern: http://www.reformhaus.ch/verkaufsste...llen.php?id=10

I prefer using Agave syrup though, didn't like the taste of stevia.
