The above statement is incorrect.
Coop and Migros Kokosfett is a refined coconut oil and it is NOT hydrogenated.
All coconut oils, whether refined or cold pressed, turn solid under about 25°C.
Okay thank you for that. Can you tell me why the oil from Migros an COOP are different from the oils at the health food stores. The ones from the health food stores tend to have more flavor and just seem more healthy

Simple, because the coconut cooking oils from Migros an COOP are refined. They are cheaper to produce (AFAIK they are made from copra = dried coconut). The reason the CO from health stores tastes more coconut-y is because it has not had other traces of coconut removed by refining (heat treatment).

PS I buy my coconut oil directly from Vitacost in teh US:

Re: Tahini, coconut oil tumeric

I was just looking at the tub one in Coop. Ew. Full of so many ingredients and definitely not the clean one I'm used to. Going to check out Reformhaus!! I need 100% pure coconut oil, cold pressed, virgin, and preferably Bio - hoping they'll also have my raw cacao powder. Also wanting some nut butters! Woo hoo! yay for this post!

Re: Tahini, coconut oil tumeric

Virgin coconut oil is often sold in Apothekes here (the ones that have the little health food section). I think the last one I saw cost about 20 CHF for the jar!

I think I've seen tahini sold in the really large Coop stores that have the various "ethnic foods" sections.

The coconut oil at Coop is hydrogenated. It says so on the container.

The one from Migros just says Kokonuss Oel so I am guessing it's not

Re: Tahini, coconut oil tumeric

I've paid between $10-50 for jars in the US. The good oil is expensive everywhere :-/

Re: Tahini, coconut oil tumeric

Sorry to wake this up. But when the turmeric (powder) from Migros is 100 times better than the one from TRS (slogan 'Asia's finest foods'), there's gotta be something wrong?

I bought this rather tiny glass of turmeric at Migros (for a fotune probably, can't recall, but I just wanted it and couldn't be bothered driving to town) and then I had a moment of bliss when I first used it.

So do I have to stick to the expensive Migros mini-portions or is there an Asian brand who doesn't simply wanna fool the Europeans with the color of the powder?
And is TRS maybe known for low quality by the insiders?

Turmeric: I think Migros quality (at least bio) is very good. Alnatura also sells some nice ones. But I've been ordering also bulk from vitacost and iherb and was satisfied with the quality.

Tahini: https://ch.iherb.com/pr/kevala-organ...oz-454-g/30684 is very good

Coconut oil: I am happy with alnatura and also coop bio
