Re: Wine.....please help!

Coop has a nice Chasselas de Romandiev- "Le Musiset".
Nice chilled, is somewhat "petillant" not sparking but leaves your palate feeling refreshed.
Don't be put off by the price it is one of the less expensive wines in the store but still good.

There is a California Cabernet Sauvignon the Coop brands as "Stone Eagle" also quaffable. It wants to breathe a bit - it might benefit from blendering.

Don't let the screw-tops put you off - these are not wines to cellar.

Got to agree... Gewurztraminer is what you should be looking for (also buy a Riesling whilst you're at it and see which you prefer).

As for which ones to go for, generally any from the Alsace are spot on but Trimbach is known in the wine world for being the best money can buy... although not cheap, it's still affordable and is apparently on the menu in most Michelin Star restaurants around the world.

I tend to buy directly from the vineyard in Ribbeauville as it's only an hour and a half from here (Bad Zurzach) but interestingly, I've found it cheaper in the UK and Sweden (it seems to be on the menu in every bar in Goteborg).

Re: Wine.....please help!

While the Lavaux terraces are noted for their Chasselas, I have had some Viognier which I found quite interesting.
