Re: Migros nespresso capsules

I did not tried them, but it looks interesting. I will for sure try them and let you know (I'm a huge coffee addicted!). Thanks for the information!

I haven't tried these yet. I did try the ones from Denner and ended up taking them to the office - horrible!

Re: Migros nespresso capsules

I have tried them at work, looking for a good cheap caffeine hit. The Ristretto flavour provides this. Although I have a traditional basket espresso machine + grinder at home, I bought a Nespresso Pixie last week. The mess from my old machine really was "grounds" for divorce. These capsules work great in the Pixie.

Re: Migros nespresso capsules

I tried them on a few occasions. Not bad but I had a hard time telling the difference between some of the flavors. Still if your not exactly a coffee expert then I think there's no real reason to buy the (more expensive) brand name capsules.

I haven't tried the Café Royal capsules from Migros; however, I saw on Kassensturz (Swiss consumer reports) that they rated very well.

Re: Migros nespresso capsules

I thought the coffee was good, not good enough for me to switch from Nespresso, but if I'm out of coffee, its easier for me to go to Migros to get a box before I can get down to the Nespresso store.

There is one thing to worry about though, I have a friend whose machine actually won't work with the Nespresso capsules anymore, because the Migros capsules are "slightly" bigger. So now her Nespresso capsules fall right through the machine...

Re: Migros nespresso capsules

The Migros capsules actually beat the Nespresso ones for flavour in a test carried out by Kassensturz
http://www.kassensturz.sf.tv/Nachric...holt-Nespresso
As usual when new capsules come out, Nestle has taken Migros to court over the capsules, but they're still on sale.

It's all very relative "the best coffee" what you like or are looking for, i may not be so it all comes down to personnel taste.

Re: Migros nespresso capsules

I really enjoy the migros ones, just as much as Nespresso! The ease of access is nice, sometimes the lines at Nespresso are killer.

Re: Migros nespresso capsules

My bro gave me a Nespresso machine the other day, so will try them.

He finds machines galore dumped in the street for rubbish collection- it is crazy. In this case, one small part was broken - it took him 5 minutes and 2.50CHF to repair! He recently found 3 vacuum cleaners- top of the range. All they needed was to replace the filter for a couple of Chuffs and 1 minute.
Some people really do have too much money.

Any reviews for the nespresso capsules from Fust? I've also noticed they are selling them now too...

Re: Migros nespresso capsules

I've only tried the Migros Lungo capsules and I think the coffee tastes a bit better than Nespresso's offerings.

That said, the packaging is considerably bulkier than the Nespresso one, meaning it takes up way more room in the cupboard.

I saw some reports in the press that the Migros capsules *may* possibly cause a small number of machines to malfunction. There's not proof that they actually caused them to malfunction - it could just be coincidence - but Migros has apparently been very good about replacing the machines, and giving the customer the benefit of the doubt.

Re: Migros nespresso capsules

Do a blind taste test for yourself and decide- I doubt many people will choose Nespresso over Migros or Denner capsules.

I use the Denner Ristretto and Milan Espresso at work. Easily as good if not better than Nespresso's Ristretto capsules.

I believe Migros just adapted their capsules slightly to reduce compatibility issues with the machines.

BTW, Nespresso is moving towards selling their capsules through retail outlets, they must be feeling the competition.

Re: Migros nespresso capsules

I usually see people carting away boxes of Nespresso at the Nestle outlet stores... so I am guessing the prices direct are better than in normal stores.
They have specials directly on their site for online shopping or you can go directly to an outlet nearby: (DE/FR)

The machines do vary a lot in the quality of the output they produce. My new Pixie seems to be fresher than the machine at work. In terms of waste though, the Migros capsules do leave you with a mass of boxes and plastic.

See if your brother can get you a machine with a built in grinder. That is still the holy grail for me in terms of taste, running cost, and waste produced.

Re: Migros nespresso capsules

I tried their espresso forte and lungo and it is not bad, its actually a replacement from the nespresso espresso and lungo (from 5chf to 3.80chf for 10 capsules).

I won't stop buying nespresso caspsules because of their various flavors but for espresso, decaf and lungo it is just across the street.

In my case about one third of the capsules fall through and even after being retrieved they don't work. So I'm waiting a bit, Migros say they'll improve their product.

Re: Migros nespresso capsules

Just tried these and, as someone said earlier, they're slightly too big for my Nespresso machine. It's an old "Magimix" machine (about 10 years old?) and I have to use force to get them in and hold the capsule holder in place so they don't get spat out.

So if you have a Magimix, don't buy them!
