Illegal Kinder eggs

No idea if this is the right section here but if not, where else than in "food"?

Anyway.

If you think that the "Kinder Überraschungs Ei" (Kinder Surprise egg or Kinder egg) is a nice small present for your relative's / friend's/ whatever's children in the US then better think of something else.
They are illegal in the US! Besides having them confiscated you might get into big trouble at the immigration.

Not sure if I only know smart kids but the ones I gave those eggs to all figured out that only the shell is edible.

Re: Illegal Kinder eggs

They used to have nice toys in it, now it is just crappy stuff. And the chocolat?

I prefer to buy something else.

Thanks for the laugh! I'm taking loads for my niece and nephew next time I go.

Re: Illegal Kinder eggs

I wonder what would happen if those eggs were declared weapons.

Dual US/Swiss Citizen has made some interesting contributions
Re: Illegal Kinder eggs

US law does not allow for toys to be packed inside of a food product; therefore, it is illegal. The fines; however, seem disproportionate to the 'crime'.
It is okay to buy automatic weapons online or with a grocery carts in a megastore. These don't pose any threat to children.

Re: Illegal Kinder eggs

I wondered whether it was because some U.S. children can get the whole egg in their mouth in one go.

What about fortune cookies? Oh, those are not toys but literature?
