Dear All,

I am not sure if this question fits in this area. Please move it appropriately if not so.

My wife and kid are travelling back to India and they would want to purchase a lot of chocolates and was thinking if there is any shop or outlet in Zurich where we can buy assorted items and several varieties.

I know about, Coop, Denner, Migros, Sprigli brands which I can buy in these stores literally anywhere in Zurich, but was looking some authentic swiss chocs at reasonable cost.

P.S: One of my colleague in my office drove me to a shop during November 2010 somewhere a 10 mins drive from Oerlikon which had wide varieties and at much cheaper rates. Unfortunately I am not to able ask him anymore.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

The cheapest chocolate, but still good, you get at Denner. For Lindt & Sprüngli which is somehow a famous brand you go to Coop. It's the chocolate that has Roger Federer as a poster boy. For the really expensive stuff you go to Confiserie Sprüngli.

Otto in Altstetten has really cheap prices for Swiss Chocs.
If you have time you could drive to Kilchberg to Lindt Factory Shop,they
sometime have slight defects on the wrappings etc and sell it really cheap for swiss quality.

Your friend probably took you to the chocolate factory in Wallisellen which is very good value

There is a GREAT place in Kilchberg, the Lindt & Sprüngli Outlet shop... they have the same chocolates you would find at the grocery store -bars and pretty boxes, plus some imperfect ones, which usually taste just the same but are not packed with a pretty ribbon.

This is a little like "where can I buy a sari in India?".

What your real qustion is, "where can i buy Swiss chocs cheap" as you've mentioned all the super markets which sell the major Swiss brands.

Buy them in one of the shops you have already mentioned, you won't get them any cheaper, and it will be far cheaper than buying in the airport.

Plus, you don't need to worry about having to carry spare change after buying chocolate there.

I would give that to somebody who is really into chocolate.

I usually buy my chocolates in the Duty Free shop at Zurich Airport.. I find the price reasonable.. and if you are buying a lot of chocolates.. buying it in Duty Free shops saves you from worrying about overweight luggages !

on the bahnofstrasse there is mercury shops which sales a good chocolate.
